Review: Sausage and Cheddar-Stuffed Pretzel at Magic Kingdom’s Sleepy Hollow Refreshments

Anybody remember the Ham and Cheese-Stuffed Pretzel that debuted in the Magic Kingdom in January?

It’s had a few homes there, including its original location of The Lunching Pad in Tomorrowland, and it was also spotted at Gaston’s Tavern in New Fantasyland.

Most recently, it popped up again in Hollywood Studios at a relatively new snack cart right near Toy Story Midway Mania.

Well, on our last trip to Magic Kingdom, we found a new version of the stuffed pretzel at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments: the Sausage and Cheddar-stuffed Pretzel.

We thought we’d grab one to see how it differs from its Ham and Cheese counterpart.

Sausage and Cheddar-stuffed Pretzel

Sausage and Cheddar-stuffed Pretzel

Let’s start with the obvious difference: this one features sausage instead of ham ;) . (I know. Who would have guessed?!) And, of course, cheddar cheese instead of Swiss. Sesame seeds are the main topper with this one, and just like the ham version, it’s served warm. The general setup makes me think of the ol’ Frankfurter in a Pretzel Roll at Min and Bill’s Dockside Diner. [Read more…]

News: Chef Guy Fieri Teams Up With Disney World’s Planet Hollywood Observatory

It’s sure been a hoppin’ summer over at Disney Springs!

The recent arrivals of Frontera Cocina, Chef Art Smith’s Homecoming, and Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza barely scratch the surface of all the additions that have helped to change the landscape of Disney World’s shopping and dining district over the past year or so.

And now that those are up and running, we turn our attention to a couple of spots that have been part of the scene since the district was known as Downtown Disney. One of those is Planet Hollywood, which will reopen as the Planet Hollywood Observatory this Fall. (The other is Paddlefish, formerly known as Fulton’s Crab House — look for a late November opening for that one.)

Now we’re starting to get a feel for what the refreshed Planet Hollywood Observatory will offer, especially with the arrival of the news that the location will feature — among many other dishes — an exclusive Burger and Sandwich Menu created by Celebrity Chef and Food Network Star Guy Fieri, best known for his show “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.”

These can be followed up with some of the Mason Jar Desserts that will also be exclusive to the Observatory. [Read more…]

Review: Earl of Sandwich in Disneyland’s Downtown Disney

It’s been a while since we’ve visited one of my favorite nosh spots: Earl of Sandwich in Downtown Disney. That’s right… it’s Earl’s, Disneyland-style!

We’re back for a quick visit because I couldn’t wait to dig into the Pepperoni Pizza Bread (and I maaaay have grabbed a few other items, too). The ingredients are exactly what you’d figure: sauce, cheese, and pepperoni on bread. [Read more…]

2016 Food and Wine Festival Booth Preview: NEW! Greenhouse Guru, Farm Fresh, and Canada Marketplaces

We are so close to the 2016 Epcot Food and Wine Festival that we can almost taste our favorite dishes!

Food and Wine Festival Updates 2016 Info Graphic Square

There are some great new additions to this year’s event, but don’t worry — there are plenty of old favorites, too. Today, we’ll take a look at both!

Greenhouse Guru, sponsored by Village Farms, will debut this year with a menu celebrating tomatoes. We were super happy to finally hear official word of this one, having tried the Duck Confit dish earlier this Summer.

In addition, we welcome back two of our favorite returning Booths: Farm Fresh Marketplace Booth and the Canada Marketplace Booth.

Farm Fresh focuses on regional Farm to Market eats. This year we’re excited to see the return of the Loaded Mac n’ Cheese with Nueske’s Pepper Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Peppers, and Green Onions!

And the Canada Booth is known far and wide for its Filet with Truffle Butter Sauce and its Cheddar Beer Soup – it’s a must-have item every Festival!

Let’s take a closer look at the complete menus so that we can all get start compiling our must-eat lists!

Greenhouse Guru — NEW!

When we attended the Tables in Wonderland Epcot Food and Wine Festival Preview earlier this Summer, there was talk of a brand new Marketplace coming for 2016. There was even a dish available to taste from the new Booth. But the crazy part is — it didn’t have a name yet.

Last week, we finally found out a little more about our Mystery Booth! Greenhouse Guru, sponsored by homegrown Village Farms, will showcase the bounty of really delicious veggies grown hydroponically! [Read more…]

Cinnamon Roll with Extra Icing

You’ll find the cozy counter spot in New Fantasyland, adjacent to other attractions featuring Beauty and the Beast themeing. And if you’re a fan of that film, you have to see this area. Just like Cars Land in Disney California Adventure, Disney did an absolutely astounding job making this corner of the park an immersive experience. You expect LeFou to greet you at every turn! News: Greenhouse Guru Marketplace Booth to Debut…Maybe…at the 2016 Epcot Food & Wine Festival

Food and Wine Festival Updates 2016 Info Graphic SquareSooo… do you remember that fantastic Duck Confit dish we enjoyed at the Epcot Food & Wine Festival Preview Event earlier this summer?

We’ve been keeping a special eye out for it, because the Duck Confit with Creamy Polenta and Fire-roasted Salsa was — hands down — our favorite new dish from the event.

Well, the BIG DAY revealing the official list of Marketplace Booths and Menus that will be at the 2016 Epcot Food & Wine Festival came and went… with no mention of either the Duck Confit OR the yet-to-be-named Marketplace coming to the 2016 Epcot Food & Wine Festival.

It’s been an unsolved mystery… until now, that is!

We believe we’ve spotted the future home of the Duck Confit as well as the previously-unnamed Marketplace Booth…

Review: New Menu Items at Harambe Market in Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Jambo! Welcome back to Harambe Market at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, one of our favorite places for wild theme park snacks!

Harambe Market is truly an experience. Much like the rest of Animal Kingdom, the theming is spectacular, and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to Storybook, Africa! This is a fairly new restaurant – you can check out our full review from last year’s opening here – and we love the set up.

As you can see from the entrance sign, the snacks here are a little different than what you’d find in the other three theme parks, and ordering is different, too. Each type of snack has a different window to order from: Chef Mwanga’s Ribs Shop, Kitamu Grill, Famous Sausages, and Wanjohi Refreshment (but we’re told you can order any item from any window except Wanjohi Refreshments, which only serves drinks).

Review: New Cocktails at Fairfax Fare in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Welcome back to Hollywood Boulevard! Disney’s Hollywood Studios has two new cocktails for us to try at Fairfax Fare!

On your way to two of the park’s blockbusters, Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, you’ll pass Fairfax Fare. The walk-up window is one of several restaurants in Sunset Ranch Market on Hollywood Boulevard. Fairfax is an airy counter-service restaurant with a laid-back California vibe and some really good barbeque! The meals are hearty, and there’s plenty of picnic table seating shared with the nearby restaurants making it the perfect place to wait for your next Fastpass+ window!

Today, however, we’re not focused on the smoky chicken and ribs, but on two new yummy drinks to cool off with this summer!
