Review: La Hacienda de San Angel in Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion

Recently, I met some friends for a cozy dinner at La Hacienda de San Angel in Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion.

My last visit to La Hacienda proved to be just about the best yet. While my earliest visits to the dinner-only restaurant were largely hit and miss, my experiences during the last couple of years have been very positive.

But you never know when things can shift and change. After all, this is Disney World — not exactly known for being consistent when it comes to dining quality. And La Hacienda is pricey. Does it continue to be worth it?

Let’s head in for dinner and you can see for yourself.

Atmosphere

We arrived on time for our 6:30 advance dining reservation and checked in. We requested a window side table, and they were happy to accommodate us. It only took a little longer to be seated.

If you haven’t been inside La Hacienda before, be sure to take a look around during your visit, and review the back story. In a nutshell, the restaurant is supposed to be the rambling home of an artistic family, and they’ve opened it up to guests. Seating is a mixture of booths and table/chair combos, all of which are comfortable and inviting. Tips for the Epcot Food and Wine Festival: Grown-Up Frozen Drinks You’ve Gotta Try!

The countdown is ON!

2016 Epcot Food and Wine Festival Logo Official Disney

We are just WEEKS away from the beginning of the 2016 Epcot Food and Wine Festival — and I know you’re as excited as we are!!

While we love Special Events and the Festival Seminars and Demonstrations, our favorite way to spend a Food and Wine Festival Day is Eating — and Drinking — Our Way Around the World at the Marketplace Booths.

And while the plethora of beer and wine choices are always awesome, we have a soft spot for the inventive and delicious Grown Up Slushies that the drink team comes up with! We love these so much that they’ve made it #OnTheList as some of our favorite must-have Disney treats.

This year, we’ve already spied several that we think you MUST try if you haven’t already. But we’ve also seen a couple new options that we’re anxious to sample ASAP! And then there are a few old favorites that deserve your time and attention if you get around to them.

Let’s head out for some refreshment, adult-style, with All the Frozen Grown Up Drinks Ya Gotta Try at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival!

La Passion Martini Slush and Frozen Daiquiri Ice Pop at the France Booth

If you plan to make a serious study of Grown Up Slushies in Epcot, then the France Pavilion has to be the first stop on your list. While the Grand Marnier and Grey Goose Slushies are perennial favorites available year around, there’s always something special to try at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival.

This year, the La Passion Martini Slush, a vibrant red mix of Vodka, Grey Goose Le Citron Vodka, Cranberry, and Passion Fruit Juice returns once more.

Review: New Cocktails at Fairfax Fare in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Welcome back to Hollywood Boulevard! Disney’s Hollywood Studios has two new cocktails for us to try at Fairfax Fare!

On your way to two of the park’s blockbusters, Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, you’ll pass Fairfax Fare. The walk-up window is one of several restaurants in Sunset Ranch Market on Hollywood Boulevard. Fairfax is an airy counter-service restaurant with a laid-back California vibe and some really good barbeque! The meals are hearty, and there’s plenty of picnic table seating shared with the nearby restaurants making it the perfect place to wait for your next Fastpass+ window!

Today, however, we’re not focused on the smoky chicken and ribs, but on two new yummy drinks to cool off with this summer!

Tips from the DFB Guide: 3 Reasons to Bring Your Kids to the 2016 Epcot Food and Wine Festival

You may think that you couldn’t possibly enjoy the Epcot Food and Wine Festival with kiddos along for the ride. But we think you totally can!

Food-and-Wine-Guide-Cover-2016 (1)

While the festival is certainly a food lover’s paradise, there’s no reason that you can’t enjoy a day there with the younger set, too. After all, Epcot is first and foremost a theme park, so even during the Food and Wine Festival, you’ll find plenty of exhibits and entertainment geared toward the small fry.

We love coming up with strategies that help you to enjoy eating your way through Walt Disney World, no matter who’s along for the ride. So if you like what you see here, be sure to check out our 2016 DFB Guide to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival for even more great tips on managing the event with kids along.

In the meantime, check out these suggestions for making the festival fun for everyone in your party!

Attend a Culinary Demonstration or Other Special Event

If you have kids that are interested in what happens in the kitchen, consider checking out what Culinary Demonstrations are available at the Festival Center for the day. Kids are permitted to attend these events with a ticket (but aren’t served alcohol, obviously). We think it’s great fun, especially for older kiddos in your party. Who knows? A future chef may be born!

If your budget allows, you may even want to check out the brand new Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It! Hands On Workshops. New in 2016, these events take place once a day, and offer guests the chance to get in on the action of exploring and creating. [Read more…]

First Look AND Review! The New AbracadaBar on Disney World’s Boardwalk

Ladies and Gentlemen! Join me in saying the Magic Word

And, NO, it’s not “Abracadabra.” It’s “AbracadaBAR,” the newest, most magical-est lounge in all of Disney World!

Located on Disney World’s Boardwalk, you’ll find that AbracadaBar has magically appeared in the space formerly occupied by Seashore Sweets right in between the Flying Fish — which is currently closed for refurbishment — and Trattoria al Forno. PRESTO!!

We are BEYOND excited to say that AbracadaBar is no longer an illusion… it’s HERE, and its presence recalls a night over 70 years ago when something strange took place at this very lounge.

Review: The Coca-Cola Rooftop Beverage Bar in Disney Springs

Let’s all “Have a Coke and a Smile…” at the brand new Coca-Cola Store Orlando in Disney Springs!

Coca-Cola Store Orlando

Coca-Cola Store Orlando

You can’t help but notice the huge Coca-Cola logo in its classic font as you approach the building, which was purportedly built to resemble a Coca-Cola bottling plant in the 1920s. (Ummmm….okay…..? Bottling plants in the 1920s had super futuristic, floor-to-ceiling glass walls, then? If you say so, Disney.)

Featuring three floors dedicated to the iconic soda, the experience begins when you walk under the 30-foot-wide blown-glass chandelier, which was made from repurposed Coca-Cola bottles. It’s kinda like you’re inside a giant bottle of Coke, eh? [Read more…]
