Although Disney World reopened last year, some of its restaurants are still closed. But, we are starting to see more restaurants reopen, especially as summer begins to approach!
One restaurant we felt might be reopening soon is Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. We’ve recently spotted Cast Members in the kitchen area and we also spotted a lot of preparations being made to welcome guests. And now we’ve got some big Cape May Cafe news!!
Now we know for certain that Cape May Cafe will be reopening soon because Disney has officially announced it! Although Disney’s Beach Club Resort isn’t officially reopening until May 30th, guests will be able to dine at Cape May starting May 18th! So if you’re looking to chow down on some New England style fare, you’ll be able to do it soon!
According to Disney, “guests returning to Cape May will find old favorites and new changes, along with its signature service and quality.”
Guests will be able to have both breakfast and dinner here. Minnie’s Beach Bash Character Breakfast and the Seafood-and-More Dinner Buffet will not be available, at least for now.
But, there will still be lots of food to enjoy. According to Disney, the all-you-care-to-eat family-style breakfast menu will feature “feature popular staples like pastries (including the layered crispy, cream-filled “Lobster Tail”), omelets, and Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse waffles.” Again, note that the Disney characters will NOT be making appearances at Cape May Cafe for now.
Dinner will include Parker House rolls and corn bread, a seafood boil with a variety of fresh seafood options, The Turf Platter with steak and chicken, and lobster mac and cheese.
Guests wishing to dine at Cape May Cafe can start making reservations as of May 7th.
We’ll be sure to let you know if any other Disney World restaurants plan on reopening soon!

Can someone explain why Sebastian’s Bistro at Caribbean Resorts has no reopening date? It’s a moderate resort that’s been reopened for awhile, a Skyliner hub, and seems to be getting solid bookings. Yet still no table service dining or even a date for it’s return? I’m absolutely baffled why.

Will the dinner at Cape May be all you care to eat or will you have to order either the Turf platter or the boil? Will they be two separate meal options. In the past my son has always chosen Cape May because of the seafood buffet and be for we make reservations for our upcoming May trip we want to be sure what to expect.

Debbie, that’s a good question. The Disney Parks Blog announcement specified All You Care to Enjoy for breakfast but did not include that language for the dinner description. However, the official menu does say Family Style Feast, which is typically AYCTE. Linking the menu here, and it does specifically say a “Turf Platter” and the “Seafood Boil.” We will check it out as soon as it opens, so watch for that review in case it can help further clarify.

Cape May is in New Jersey, so how is that New England style fare??

I agree, Cape May is in New Jersey, nothing to do with New England. I think the research and marketing team behind that decision didn’t do their due diligence.
