Today is THE DAY! Avengers Campus is officially OPENING  in Disney California Adventure!

This brand new land turns you from a guest into the newest Avengers recruit and there is A LOT to explore here! We’ve been keeping track of all the happenings for Avengers Campus since it was announced pre-pandemic (doesn’t that feel like EONS ago!?) and the moment is finally here! And we even got a first look at the land a few days back. Now, we’re taking you along with us as we explore all the new attractions, character, and, of course, FOOD! So, let’s get right to it, shall we?

Arriving at Avengers Campus

Crowds were already pretty sizeable around 7AM.

Avengers Campus had a posted opening of 9AM today (with Disney California Adventure), and there are systems in place for when the land reaches capacity.

Looks like a LOT of folks are hoping to head to the Campus today!

And the crowds only continued to grow, but the line was moving around 8AM.

The movement was a little stop and start as guests filtered through security.

When Avengers Campus is full, guests can enter a standby queue. Those who were able to nab a spot in the Virtual Queue for WEB SLINGERS will also be able to enter the land.

Soon, we made it to the gate of Disney California Adventure and we were standing on Buena Vista Street by 8:25AM.

As soon as we entered the park, we headed for the standby queue which was already in use.

By the time we arrived, we spotted that the line ran down into Hollywood Land and switched back.

We were able to grab the snazzy new Avengers Campus park maps.

And the standby queue had a pretty good view into Avengers Campus too.

For now, traffic flow in and out of Avengers Campus is super regulated, with one of the three entrances designated as an exit.

And since those in the WEB SLINGERS Virtual Queue do not need to wait in the standby line, there is a designated return for those guests.

The line stretched PAST the entrance to Avengers Campus and started heading over towards Paradise Pier. 😳 Holy moly!

Eventually, we made it through the line and into Avengers Campus!

Unsurprisingly, those crowds were pretty wild throughout the day.

We even noticed that folks were sitting on the ground to rest or eat!

Dining Options

As a note, before we even arrived this morning we noticed some issues with Mobile Order in the Disneyland Resort app. By 6:08AM, EVERY SINGLE Mobile Order slot for the whole day was gone for Avengers Campus.

This presents a few issues. Folks who didn’t know demand would be so high will be disappointed if they have to skip their Avengers Campus meals later and everyone who Mobile Ordered may not even make it into the new land. We’ll keep you updated on how it goes!

After learning all about the new food and drink coming to Avengers Campus a few weeks ago, we couldn’t wait to check out all FOUR of the new dining locations!

PYM Test Kitchen

Breakfast at PYM Test Kitchen made for some SUPER SIZED and sub-sized (is that a thing?) eats! We’ll be bringing you a FULL REVIEW of this meal a little later!

Not only does this restaurant come with some VERY cool theming, like oversized ketchup bottles, but we were pretty impressed with the eats too!

Keep in mind though, breakfast here is the most basic meal of the day.

Lunch has the more adventurous eats!

You can seriously tell where the PYM particles have changed up the food — like with the chicken sandwich!

PYM Tasting Lab

PYM Tasting Lab serves up craft beers and themed cocktails and the science-y atmosphere was pretty darn cool!

The Shawarma Palace

The Shawarma Palace is a cart serving up shawarma-style snacks inspired by the first Avengers movie.

We were pretty pleased with the wraps at this stop!

Attractions

WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure

The newest attraction to Avengers Campus is WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure. Here you’ll hop into your ride vehicle to help Spider-Man capture some rogue Spider-Bots that got out into the city by LITERALLY slinging webs like Spider-Man himself!

Now, this ride does have a virtual queue, so you only have two chances to grab a boarding group — one at 7AM and one at 12PM. And, you’ll have to choose between the superheroes and the space travelers, because you can’t have a boarding group for both Rise of the Resistance and WEB SLINGERS. So, choose wisely!

The Boarding Groups went SUPER fast this morning. They were gone in seconds!

Character Encounters

It wouldn’t be Avengers Campus without some Marvel superheroes, now would it? We spotted LOTS of supers like Captain Marvel, Loki, Black Panther, the Dora Milaje, and more!

Plus, there are several different show experiences you can catch throughout the day — involving some serious stunts!

Shopping

And, of course, there was some shopping to be done! You can pick up ALL your superhero essentials from WEB Suppliers and The Campus Supply Pod.

But there are some novelties at the dining locations too.
