UPDATE: Disneyland’s calendar is now showing operating hours for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad on November 5th, 2021.
In Disney World and Disneyland we see rides close periodically for refurbishment.

Right now, The Haunted Mansion is closed for scheduled maintenance in Disneyland as it becomes Haunted Mansion Holiday. This spooktacular attraction is scheduled to reopen on Friday, September 3rd. But, just a few days after Haunted Mansion reopens, another fan-favorite Disneyland ride is set to close for refurbishment.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Disneyland is scheduled to be closed for refurbishment starting September 7th of this year.

The Disneyland website notes that the attraction is expected to reopen in the fall of 2021, but no date is specified.

Right now, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad shows “no times available” on the Disneyland calendar from September 7th through October 4th at least. However, October 4th is as far as the calendar is showing right now, so Big Thunder Mountain could be closed for longer.

If Big Thunder is a must-ride for you, make sure to mark your calendar and plan around the ride’s temporary closure.
