Are you planning to visit Disneyland in 2023? Then you’ll need to know about a few major CLOSURES happening in the parks!
From popular rides to fan-favorite restaurants, there are several closures happening at both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Never fear — we’ve got a full list of everything that’ll be closed in the parks and Downtown Disney in 2023 so that you can find all the information you’ll need for your upcoming trip.
Disneyland Park
Tarzan’s Treehouse
Closure Date: Currently Closed – TBA
Tarzan’s Treehouse in Disneyland’s Adventureland is currently closed for a retheming. Disney has revealed that the attraction will pay tribute to the original treehouse Walt Disney and his Imagineers built in 1962 for the movie Swiss Family Robinson. It will return in a “fresh, new way”at Disneyland park in 2023.
The Adventureland Treehouse will show “wondrous new environments created amongst the branches of a giant tree on the shores of the Jungle River.” Guests will also be able to enter by the giant waterwheel and go up the wood rope stairways into the tree.
Inside the treehouse, you will find rooms that the family created in this new story. The mother will have a music den, the son a nature room, and the daughter an astronomer’s loft. All of these things are made with found objects, natural resources, and “pure ingenuity.”

French Market Restaurant
Permanently Closed on February 17th
This Disneyland restaurant closed permanently on February 17th, 2023, in order to make way for the NEW Tiana’s Palace restaurant. The new spot will feature food inspired by Disney’s The Princess and the Frog.

French Market
Disney hasn’t announced a specific opening date for the new restaurant yet, but it’ll be sometime this year!

Mint Julep Bar
Closure Date: February 17th – TBA
The Mint Julep Bar is also closed as Disneyland works on Tiana’s Palace, but it’s going to reopen as part of the new restaurant.

We’re always ready to grab a beignet in New Orleans Square
So don’t worry — you’ll still be able to buy the fan-favorite drinks and Mickey beignets at this spot once it returns!
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Closure Dates: April 3 – April 13, 2023
“The Wildest Ride in the Wilderness” — Big Thunder Mountain — is scheduled for a closure which will begin on April 3, 2023.
Hours of operation are listed on the Disneyland website once again starting April 14, 2023.
Matterhorn Bobsleds
Closure Date: April 17, 2023
The Matterhorn Bobsleds are slated to close for a refurbishment which will begin on April 17, 2023.
A reopening timeline has yet to be revealed.
Space Mountain Seasonal Transformation
Hyperspace Mountain will return as part of Star Wars Month, which will be celebrated from May 1st through June 4th, 2023! This means that Space Mountain will temporarily transform into Hyperspace Mountain starting May 1st.
Space Mountain is expected to reopen (and be back to its “usual” form) on June 5th, 2023.
Splash Mountain
Closure Date: Not yet announced
Splash Mountain will close at an as-yet-unannounced date to be transformed into a Princess and the Frog-themed attraction!

Splash Mountain
Get ready for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to open in late 2024! Disney has shared that the reimagined attraction will pick up the story of The Princess and the Frog “after the final kiss, and join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.”

Disney California Adventure
Silly Symphony Swings
Closure Dates: February 24th – May 4th
Those Silly Symphony Swings won’t be swinging for a bit — the attraction closed for refurbishment on February 24th.

Silly Symphony Swings
It’s currently scheduled to reopen on May 5th, 2023.
Downtown Disney District
Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen and Jazz Kitchen Express
Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen is partially closed as the restaurant is making changes that will bring “a fresh approach to the menu, while staying true to the heart of New Orleans.” Guests may currently dine, however, upstairs or on the balcony. Jazz Kitchen Express is offering a modified experience with a limited menu during the work (and is thankfully serving BEIGNETS!).

When it reopens in full as Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio, the eatery will feature outdoor patios, a veranda, and dining rooms, with a menu offering dishes such as Pasta Jambalaya, Gumbo Ya-Ya, and a Grilled Lobster BLT Po’ Boy… and, of course, the Jazz Kitchen’s beloved beignets! We’ll keep you posted as more information is revealed!
Catal and Uva Bar
Closure Date: April 10th
Catal Restaurant and its outdoor bar Uva Bar & Cafe will be closing “to make way for an exciting new addition to the Downtown Disney District” in Disneyland.
Based on the Disneyland website calendar, it looks like the last day to dine at Catal or Uva will be April 9th.
We’ll continue to update this post as more closures are announced. Stay tuned to DFB for more updates on all the latest Disney news.
