New merchandise, 100th Anniversary crowds, special food and collectibles, and SO MUCH MORE — if you haven’t been to Disneyland lately, there’s a lot of info to catch up on.
Over at Disneyland Park, a NEW ride has finally opened, there are some sweet sippers and popcorn buckets now available, and there are even brand NEW nighttime shows to see. We’ve been there to experience it all, so join us now as we recap some of the latest and greatest from Disneyland Resort.
Disneyland Food Updates
There are LOTS of new 100th Anniversary snacks to check out in Disneyland. Here are just some of them!
Town Square and Tomorrowland Churro Carts
At the churro carts in Town Square and Tomorrowland, you’ll now find a Disney100 Churro, which is rolled in cherry sugar served with white icing and topped with purple and silver pearls. It’s $6.75.
Unfortunately, our churro wasn’t really fresh and we really didn’t get a lot of that cherry flavor. But if you simply must get a 100th Anniversary churro, know that this is available.
See our FULL review of the churro here
Hub Popcorn Stand
At a popcorn stand within the Hub in Disneyland Park, we were able to snatch up the NEW Platinum Popcorn Bucket!
It’s $19.50 and may just be the SHINIEST popcorn bucket Disney has ever released!
See our full post about the popcorn bucket here!
Hungry Bear Restaurant
At Hungry Bear Restaurant, you can pick up a few 100th Anniversary items including a Potato and Cheddar Cheeseburger ($15.49)…
…Lemon Chiffon Pie ($7.99)…
…and an ADORABLE Mickey Sipper ($32.49).
The star of the cheeseburger was definitely the potato planks — these were like crispy, spicy hash browns — YUM! And the lemon chiffon pie was sweet but that balanced with the tartness of the lemon.
See our FULL review of the burger and pie here!
Jolly Holiday Bakery
Looking for a trifle? You can pick up the Platinum Trifle at Jolly Holiday Bakery for $8.49.
It has layers of chocolate cookie crumbles, cheesecake, cherry compote, chocolate cookie mousse, and crème fraîche chantilly with crunch pearls and a chocolate piece. But something important was missing from our version — the chocolate piece on top that is supposed to have a 100th Anniversary medallion!
Despite the missing medallion, the treat was nice and had a good cherry compote (nice and rich and not artificial tasting). Plus the cookie mousse was VERY rich.
Is this THE snack for you? Read our full review here!
Refreshment Corner
At Refreshment Corner, things are looking PURPLE with the Violet Pretzel ($7.59)…
…and Sparkling Grape drink ($5.79).
The Violet Pretzel is a cream cheese-filled pretzel drizzled with salted vanilla cream and lavender sugar. It tastes like a delicious cream cheese-filled pretzel, but we really didn’t get any lavender flavors.
The drink is made with Sprite with grape syrup topped with a candy strip. The grape isn’t super strong and it isn’t overly artificially sweet. It’s a good pick for fans of grapes or Sprite!

Candy Palace
And finally, in food news, if you love sweet treats, head to Candy Palace for the 100th Anniversary. There, you’ll find a 100th Anniversary-themed Minnie Apple ($12.99)…
…and Minnie Cake Pop ($6.49).
These are a fun and festive way to celebrate the big 100th Anniversary of the Disney Company while still getting a snack that is familiar.
See our full post about these treats here!
Disneyland Construction Updates
In terms of construction, the Paradise Pier Hotel at Disneyland Resort is being transformed into the Pixar-themed Pixar Place Hotel. Recently, we noticed that some colorful stripes have been added to the side of the building.
We’ll continue to keep an eye out for updates as this transformation takes place.
See our full post on the Pixar Place Hotel transformation here!
Disneyland Attraction and Entertainment Updates
Disneyland has gotten some HUGE attraction and entertainment updates lately!
Disneyland Park
At Disneyland Park, the NEW Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway ride has finally opened in Mickey’s Toontown!
While the ride itself is very similar to the one out in Disney World (at Hollywood Studios), the queue is dramatically different!
This queue takes you inside the CapiTOON theater and is filled with all kinds of references to Disney characters, shorts, movies, and more.
If you love easter eggs, searching for hidden references, and Disney puns and jokes — this is a queue you CANNOT miss!
Click here for our full post about the amazing easter eggs in this queue!
Note that Runaway Railway in Disneyland does use a virtual queue (no regular standby line) or you can purchase an Individual Lightning Lane to skip the virtual queue for this ride. On its opening day, the Individual Lightning Lane was priced at $20 per person, but that can vary depending on the day!
Also at Disneyland Park, a brand NEW nighttime show (which features fireworks on certain nights) called Wondrous Journeys has premiered!
The show has it ALL — a flying Blue Fairy, a flying Baymax, projections that showcase Disney animated films, fantastic music, and SO much more.
See videos of the NEW fireworks show here!
Also, for the 100th Anniversary celebration at Disneyland, you’ll find special decor on Sleeping Beauty Castle…
…statues of Mickey…
…and Minnie…
…unique outfits for some of your favorite Disney pals…
…new Cast Member nametags…
…an updated park map…
…and even a brand new exhibit! The new exhibit is within The Disney Gallery and it honors Disney films that became rides, and rides that inspired Disney films.
Basically, there’s a LOT to see in Disneyland as part of the 100th Anniversary celebration, so get ready to plan those trips.
Disney California Adventure Park
And you can’t forget Disney California Adventure Park! At this park, you’ll find the NEW 100th Anniversary nighttime show World of Color — ONE.
This show has projections, dancing water fountains, music from Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars films, and SO much more!
See our full post about the show (with videos!) here!
