Okay, so we’ve had our share of Disney burgers … and well, they’re pretty standard.
That’s not to say we haven’t found some GREAT burgers in Disneyland — we liked the Mac-N-Cheese Burger from Earl of Sandwich Tavern in Downtown Disney. The Potato & Cheddar Cheeseburger from Hungry Bear Restaurant in Disneyland was a BIG hit with us. So we decided to give ANOTHER burger — this time in Disney California Adventure — a chance. But did it live up to our burger standards? Let’s find out.
So let’s head on over to Flo’s V-8 Cafe in Cars Land and see what’s shaking!
Atmosphere
Flo’s V-8 Cafe is right in the heart of Cars Land, so expect the theming here to be all about Cars. This roadside stop is shaped like a giant air filter.
Inside, you’ll find a “showroom” that serves as a museum of artifacts from Doc Hudson (you know, the legendary race car driver). Be sure to take some time to check out all the memorabilia.
The Cars theming is ON POINT.
You’ll find some standard tables and chairs here, as well as booths.
Outdoor seating is also available.
Mobile Order is available here, but you can also order inside from a Cast Member (or check in with a Cast Member for Mobile Order)
As you can see, the Cars theming can be seen both outside and inside Flo’s. But what we’re really here for is the food, which is classic comfort food like burgers and shakes.
Food
As we mentioned, the food here is standard comfort food, like burgers and shakes. You can get the Ka-Cheeseburger, Cobb de Ville Salad, Flo’s Famous Fried Chicken, or Ramone’s Low and Slow Club. An Impossible Burger is also available.
The Kid’s menu here should also please your young ‘uns, with a Micro Burger, Chicken Fenders, and Mack’s Mac & Cheese.
You can wash it all down with beverages (including a few alcoholic options), as well as Shakes.
However, we’re here to try the NEW seasonal item on the menu, the Stuffed Jalapeño Bacon Cheeseburger for $15.49. It’s made with a 1/3 lb Angus Beef Patty, Stuffed Jalapeños, Crispy Bacon, Cheddar, Chipotle Aїoli, and Onion, and served with a Cuties Mandarin Oranges or Steak Fries. We went for the fries, of course!
The burger delivered on the spicy. The stuffed jalapeños are nice and crunchy and add just the right amount of heat to the creamy cheese flavor of the burger. You also get a little more spiciness from the chipotle aioli, but we would call this more of a mild spice.
The pieces of bacon on the burger weren’t just thicked, but also packed with flavor — and cooked perfectly. No limp pieces of bacon here! It was crispy, but not TOO soft, but also not TOO crunchy (aka burnt). We will say the burger patty isn’t the best we’ve had from Disney — it was the standard bland burger you find at most counter service restaurants.
However, all the other ingredients on the burger still made this a step up from the usual standard Disney burger. We also liked the soft brioche bun.
Nosh or Not
Head on over to Flo’s V-8 Cafe if:
- You have picky eaters in your group. There are plenty of options here to satisfy those with pickier palates.
- You want a quick service meal in California Adventure that’s a little higher standard than others
- You love Cars — you’ll want to spend as much time as possible in Cars Land, and the Cars theming at Flo’s V-8 is great, plus you’ll appreciate all the memorabilia inside the restaurant.
Skip Flo’s V-8 Cafe if:
- You want a table service meal. This is just a quick service spot with limited options.
- You want something OTHER than standard comfort food. Although the burger we had was slightly elevated, you can find more original foods nearby like the bread cones at Cozy Cone Motel.
- You’re in a hurry. This is a popular spot, and even mobile order can take a while. It’s also often hard to find a table here.
Overall
Although we liked the burger we had here, it was only an upgrade in that an otherwise bland burger had some items added to it to give it more flavor. We wouldn’t go out of our way to eat at Flo’s V-8 Cafe, but if we were in Cars Land and got hungry, we would still consider it. We will say the food here is of a higher quality than many of the other quick service locations in California Adventure, so it’s a sure bet, especially if you have picky eaters in your group.
