It is not only Disney World that uses Virtual Queue!
Disneyland is no stranger to using Virtual Queues as both Rise of the Resistance and WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure once used Virtual Queue. Well, there are still two Virtual Queues available at Disneyland: one for Haunted Mansion Holiday and one for World of Color — ONE. However, things will be interesting when another attraction opens at Disneyland later this year.
Disneyland’s Virtual Queue system works the same as Disney World’s but with a slight time difference. You can enter the Virtual Queue from outside the park through the Disneyland app at 7 AM. If you miss the first Virtual Queue, no worries! You can try again at noon (not 1 PM like Disney World.) Currently, you can only join the Virtual Queue at noon for World of Color — ONE.
You can hold a Virtual Queue for both Haunted Mansion Holiday and World of Color – ONE at the same time as World of Color, which is an entertainment offering. However, you can only join the queue for Haunted Mansion Holiday once a day.
It was recently announced that the Haunted Mansion’s neighbor, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, will open on November 15th. Disney World’s Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened in June of this year. When it opened, it utilized a Virtual Queue, which is still being used today.
Before TRON Lightcycle / Run switched to a stand-by line, you would have to choose between getting a Virtual Queue for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure or TRON Lightcycle / Run. There was also a back-up option. You could purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass for TRON Lightcyle / Run or choose Tiana’s Bayou Adventure as one of your Lightning Lane Multi Pass Selections.
It has yet to be announced if Disneyland’s version of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will utilize Virtual Queue. What we do know is that Haunted Mansion Holiday is only running on a Virtual Queue system due to ongoing construction on its queue. That means no stand-by line or Lightning Lane line. The only way to ride Haunted Mansion Holiday is via Virtual Queue.
This will mean you will have to make a difficult choice this upcoming November. If Tiana’s Bayou Adventure does use Virtual Queue, you will have to choose between either Haunted Mansion Holiday or Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. You can have the opportunity to get in the queue for both, but you can only hold one queue at a time. So if noon rolls around and your boarding group has not been called for your first 7 AM ride selection, then you will not be able to join the queue for the other ride.
In our experience, we were able to snag a Virtual Queue for Haunted Mansion Holiday at 6 PM, six hours after the second queue opened. This is not always guaranteed, but since Haunted Mansion and Haunted Mansion Holiday normally do not use a Virtual Queue, they are able to allow more Boarding Groups. Plus, the ride has an omni-mover system, which helps keep the line moving.
We will have to wait and see if Tiana’s Bayou Adventure uses Virtual Queue or not. We will make sure to keep you updated so you can make the best decision for your vacation on what Virtual Queue you should prioritize.
