If you’ve visited the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival before, then you know what a hassle it can be to get from Marketplace Booth to a Table (or Trash Can Top or Bench or Wall) without spilling your dishes and drinks.
That’s why one of my best tips for you is to bring your own tray to make the journey easier!
Yep — we know they sell these little jobbies…
But to be honest, that’s just not enough real estate when you’re sampling more than one dish…plus drinks.
Any tray will do, of course. But why not take the opportunity to show your team spirit with a Disney Food Blog Customized Food and Wine Festival Tray?
Whaaaaaa?!
So how do you set about making this marvelous thing? It’s easy! First, grab a DFB Food and Wine Festival Tray Sticker, like so:
THEN, acquire a basic cafeteria tray (we won’t ask any questions how you go about it) and slap the sticker on the tray. DONE. [Read more…]

Recently, I met some friends for a cozy dinner at La Hacienda de San Angel in Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion.
My last visit to La Hacienda proved to be just about the best yet. While my earliest visits to the dinner-only restaurant were largely hit and miss, my experiences during the last couple of years have been very positive.
But you never know when things can shift and change. After all, this is Disney World — not exactly known for being consistent when it comes to dining quality. And La Hacienda is pricey. Does it continue to be worth it?
Let’s head in for dinner and you can see for yourself.
We arrived on time for our 6:30 advance dining reservation and checked in. We requested a window side table, and they were happy to accommodate us. It only took a little longer to be seated.
If you haven’t been inside La Hacienda before, be sure to take a look around during your visit, and review the back story. In a nutshell, the restaurant is supposed to be the rambling home of an artistic family, and they’ve opened it up to guests. Seating is a mixture of booths and table/chair combos, all of which are comfortable and inviting. [Read more…]

The countdown is ON!
We are just WEEKS away from the beginning of the 2016 Epcot Food and Wine Festival — and I know you’re as excited as we are!!
While we love Special Events and the Festival Seminars and Demonstrations, our favorite way to spend a Food and Wine Festival Day is Eating — and Drinking — Our Way Around the World at the Marketplace Booths.
And while the plethora of beer and wine choices are always awesome, we have a soft spot for the inventive and delicious Grown Up Slushies that the drink team comes up with! We love these so much that they’ve made it #OnTheList as some of our favorite must-have Disney treats.
This year, we’ve already spied several that we think you MUST try if you haven’t already. But we’ve also seen a couple new options that we’re anxious to sample ASAP! And then there are a few old favorites that deserve your time and attention if you get around to them.
Let’s head out for some refreshment, adult-style, with All the Frozen Grown Up Drinks Ya Gotta Try at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival!
If you plan to make a serious study of Grown Up Slushies in Epcot, then the France Pavilion has to be the first stop on your list. While the Grand Marnier and Grey Goose Slushies are perennial favorites available year around, there’s always something special to try at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival.
This year, the La Passion Martini Slush, a vibrant red mix of Vodka, Grey Goose Le Citron Vodka, Cranberry, and Passion Fruit Juice returns once more.
In recent years, France has given us another delightful twist on a childhood favorite: Frozen Grown Up Push Pops! [Read more…]

Remember the return of the Chocolate-Covered Peanut Butter Sandwich I happened upon at Pooh Corner in Disneyland recently? If not, take a moment to click this link and gaze upon the wonder of it, then meet me right back here.
Okay, ready? Now, right next to it in the bakery case was another chocolate-covered treat: the Mickey S’more.
And just like its neighbor, the Peanut Butter Sandwich, after being discontinued for a few months, the S’more has received a bit of a makeover. [Read more…]

On my recent visit to Walt Disney World, my husband and I made it a goal to carve out time for a date night at California Grill.
If you love signature dining at Disney World, then you probably know the Grill well. Perched atop Disney’s Contemporary Resort, the spot has Disney history on its side. After all, Top of the World, which originally occupied the fifteenth floor, dated all the way back to Disney World’s opening. California Grill opened as its replacement in 1995, and brought with it a new emphasis on market fresh ingredients and California fusion flavors.
It was more than just another new Disney restaurant. It, along with Victoria and Albert’s, paved the way for a more refined dining experience at Walt Disney World.
My recent experiences have been a little uneven, however. (Even California Grill isn’t immune to the Disney restaurant curse of inconsistency.) So it’s always good to check in on an old favorite. After all, this was our first visit after the departure of Chef Brian Piasecki, so we had to see what was happening in the kitchen. And that view makes it easy to take a chance with the Grill.
Let’s head to the second floor.
Why the second floor you ask? Because if you want to go California Grill, your journey begins here. You’ll check in at the podium before you’re escorted to the elevator that takes you to the fifteenth floor.
Once you arrive, you’ll step into California Grill’s sleek environment. [Read more…]

It’s sure been a hoppin’ summer over at Disney Springs!
The recent arrivals of Frontera Cocina, Chef Art Smith’s Homecoming, and Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza barely scratch the surface of all the additions that have helped to change the landscape of Disney World’s shopping and dining district over the past year or so.
And now that those are up and running, we turn our attention to a couple of spots that have been part of the scene since the district was known as Downtown Disney. One of those is Planet Hollywood, which will reopen as the Planet Hollywood Observatory this Fall. (The other is Paddlefish, formerly known as Fulton’s Crab House — look for a late November opening for that one.)
Now we’re starting to get a feel for what the refreshed Planet Hollywood Observatory will offer, especially with the arrival of the news that the location will feature — among many other dishes — an exclusive Burger and Sandwich Menu created by Celebrity Chef and Food Network Star Guy Fieri, best known for his show “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.”
These can be followed up with some of the Mason Jar Desserts that will also be exclusive to the Observatory. [Read more…]

If you’re anything like me, then you’ve got a little something called “Olympics Fever” right now. Symptoms include red eyes from vegging in front of the TV for hours on end and fatigue from staying up waaaaay to late to watch Michael Phelps nab yet another gold medal, or the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics Team completely dominate… well, pretty much everything they attempt. (U.S.A.! U.S.A.!)
But, hey, who needs sleep?! We’ve only got one more week to cheer on the champs in Rio… and while I’m cheering for them, I’d love to cheer for YOU, too! [Read more…]

Sooo… do you remember that fantastic Duck Confit dish we enjoyed at the Epcot Food & Wine Festival Preview Event earlier this summer?
We’ve been keeping a special eye out for it, because the Duck Confit with Creamy Polenta and Fire-roasted Salsa was — hands down — our favorite new dish from the event.
Well, the BIG DAY revealing the official list of Marketplace Booths and Menus that will be at the 2016 Epcot Food & Wine Festival came and went… with no mention of either the Duck Confit OR the yet-to-be-named Marketplace coming to the 2016 Epcot Food & Wine Festival.
It’s been an unsolved mystery… until now, that is!
We believe we’ve spotted the future home of the Duck Confit as well as the previously-unnamed Marketplace Booth…
Greenhouse Guru hosted by Village Farms is now showing up on the What’s New page for the Epcot Food & Wine Festival! [Read more…]
