It’s time to take another stroll around Disney World and see what’s new and awesome! We’ve got parade pics, Olaf apples, Gaston-themed headwear, and more! Won’t you please join us 🙂 ?
Everything’s coming up “Frozen” at Walt Disney World to celebrate the release of the movie on Blu-Ray and DVD.
Olaf the Snowman has been bestowed a true Disney character honor… He’s now a Candy Apple!
Keep an eye out for him in candy locations like Sweet Spells, Main Street Confectionery, Candy Cauldron, and Goofy’s Candy Company… I’m hoping he’s here for the long haul!
You may also spy some favorite treats in a blue hue for a very limited time, including Mickey Krispy Treats and Marshmallow Wands.
A recent walk around Downtown Disney revealed that the Disney Food Trucks are making their way around. Previously housed primarily between Cirque du Soleil and House of Blues (and occasionally spotted in the grassy area next to Bongos Cuban Cafe), the Food Trucks we’re spotted in new and different places around the West Side.
For instance, the World Showcase of Flavors truck was parked across from Splitsville.
And Fantasy Fare has been spotted over in the Marketplace (this is the spot next to World of Disney where Santa’s Chalet can be found during the holidays).
However, the one thing certain about the Food Trucks is that they are ever-changing 🙂 . And we know something new is coming thanks to these Food Truck Park signs found around Downtown Disney.
What’s to come? Only time will tell!
The first sure sign of spring at Disney World is the Flower & Garden Festival. But a smaller sign is seeing all the things available to stuff your Easter basket at Ghirardelli.
The Starbucks construction site on the Marketplace side is really starting to take shape. You can now see the triangular top peeking out above the walls, matching the “Coming Soon” artwork.
And as new things arrive, we also say [Read more…]

Editor’s Note: The Cheshire Cake Cups have been discontinued as of late Summer 2015. We’ll update you if/when they’ll return (because there will be shouts of rejoicing.)
Last fall, the Cheshire Café surprised us all with the debut of AJ’s favorite new treat in all the land — Gourmet Cake Cups.
This small snack stop next to the Mad Tea Party (the teacups ride!) is adorably themed with whimsical swirls of color, but previously it was known primarily as a spot to grab a piece of fruit for breakfast, or a cold soda or Raspberry Lemonade Slush on a hot afternoon.
Not so, anymore! The Cheshire Café has become a must-stop for many ever since Gourmet Cake Cups hit the scene. In fact, there have been days when these eye-catching goodies have sold out entirely.
And that’s bound to happen a bit more often… especially now that Cheshire Café has introduced TWO MORE CAKE CUPS to the line up! Say hello to the White Chocolate Rabbit and Queen of Hearts Strawberry Shortcake Cake Cups!
For those unfamiliar with these gems, a Gourmet Cake Cup is like a cupcake in its ingredients (cake and frosting), but presented parfait-style. In addition to the frosting on top, there are multiple layers of frosting between the layers of cake, all served in a cup. And yes, they are very, VERY sweet.
Gourmet Cake Cups are known and loved for two things: absolutely terrific – and even artistic – presentation… and oodles upon oodles of frosting! Let’s take a closer look at the new arrivals…
First – as with the previous Cake Cups, the Mad Hatter Mocha and Cheshire Cupcake Cake Cup – the appearance in real life trumps that on the sign. Here is the “new” sign (a small note on that later):
And here is another view of the duo!
The White Chocolate Rabbit Cake Cup (inspired, obviously by the always-late White Rabbit in “Alice in Wonderland”) is a yellow cake base that is [Read more…]

Here’s a good one if you’re still stuck in the Polar Vortex! 50’s Prime Time Cafe‘s Chicken Pot Pie is the perfect comfort food…and it might just taste better than Mom’s!
But don’t tell her WE said that! Here’s the recipe… .
This gorgeous pie features sweet, salty, and more in the perfect little package. So much flavor in one tiny treat!
You can find it at the BoardWalk Bakery in Disney World, or [Read more…]

You’ve been watching us for months review the four new food trucks in Disney World’s Downtown Disney!
Disney stormed onto the trendy food truck scene as part of Downtown Disney’s makeover into Disney Springs, bringing World Showcase of Flavors, featuring goodies from the Epcot Food and Wine Festival and Epcot Flower and Garden Festival; Superstar Catering, bringing eats from Disney’s Hollywood Studios; Namaste Café, showcasing treats from Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge; and Fantasy Fare, a bright red delight bringing menu items from Disney’s Magic Kingdoms all over the world (including hand-dipped corn dogs from Disneyland)!
For the first few months, the trucks were found in various spots around Downtown Disney — and even in the Parks during particularly busy holiday periods. We haven’t been able to find a definitive schedule or location for them, in fact!
But maybe that’s changing! We recently spotted this sign in Downtown Disney!
Yep! Looks like the trucks may be [Read more…]
The walls are down and the doors are open! Disneyland’s Downtown Disney has just welcomed one of the most unique Starbucks stores in the nation.
This LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certified store is beyond gorgeous. First off, you may be wondering what LEED is; I myself had to look it up to get some more information.
LEED certification encourages “green” building, using sustainable products in the construction of the building. It also requires Energy Star performance ratings on appliances, lighting, machinery, etc.
This Starbucks has all that and more. Let’s take a look inside!
Both the interior and exterior of the store are lined with upcycled box car wood. It has been sanded and stained to a beautiful golden brown color. You can actually see the holes where the bolts originally held the box cars together.
Other design elements include hand painted murals and a tree stump that was cut into a bench for seating. Starbucks wanted to bring in hand crafted elements that compliment their hand crafted beverages.
The focal centerpiece of the store is a 9 panel LCD screen that features original content from the areas of the world that Starbucks sources their coffee.
The images have been modified to look as though they are watercolors, and change every minute or so. The only other Starbucks in the nation to features this same screen is in New York’s Times Square location.
All Content on the LCD Screen is Original to Starbucks.
When designing the store, Starbucks knew that its visitors would be in the area expecting some Disney magic. Looking to impress guests and spread some of their own pixie dust, elements were added to this new store that have yet to be introduced to any other Starbucks location.
The main feature is the interactive digital chalkboard. I immediately noticed this when I walked in the doors. It does two different things. First, it acts as a drawing board allowing guests to use their fingers to write messages, draw pictures or play a fun game of tic tac toe.
Of course I couldn’t resist trying it out for myself…
Second, it creates its own pictures using images it “sees” in front of it.
Sure enough, I watched for a few minutes and I noticed that the man sitting near it was all of a sudden featured in a chalk type drawing right there on the board. Very cool!
By the way — it has a disclosure right there on the wall stating that they are using scenes and people in that area of the store to create the unique chalkboard drawings, so you’ve been warned that you might be part of the artwork.
Above the barista work space, Starbucks has added a light up map featuring locations where they source their coffee.
This particular Starbucks has very little indoor seating. In fact the only seating is really a few small benches and the round stools that can be seen in front of the interactive screen.
Instead, the seating was designed to be a patio experience; “alfresco” is what I was told specifically. The patio was built around a large pre-existing tree. Not wanting to uproot this long time resident, Starbucks made it the focal point of the patio.
The seating around it is very inviting. In fact, if it weren’t for the World of Disney being right next door, you might easily forget that you were just steps away from the Main Gates. I can definitely see this area being at full capacity most, if not all of the time. It’s a great spot to take a break.
Another element unique to this store is the living wall towards the back of the patio. The wall features 1000 native plants and acts as a backdrop to more patio seating.
In addition to their regular beverage menu, this particular Starbucks location has a “Starbucks Reserve” menu. They have a special reserve coffee bar that serves up some rare and exotic coffee blends that can not be found at most Starbucks locations. The Reserve menu changes on a regular basis.
You can also find the familiar refrigerated cases that serve up prepackaged foods, snacks, bottled water, juice, milk and more.
Pastries and and treats can be found as well.
Merchandise
This location has the typical Starbucks branded gear available for purchase. You can buy coffee, water bottles, cups, mugs, etc.
They also have a location-specific Orange County mug.
I was hoping to see some Starbucks/Disney colab merchandise, but alas it was no where in sight. I did ask if it was in the works and the answer was, “We aren’t ruling out the possibility.” So, basically, don’t hold your breath!
Grinds to Go
Reserve coffees can be purchased to take home.
And…. If you need some additional energy to go, you can grab boxes of VIA, tea or coffee to take with you.
Overall, I think that Starbucks did a great job designing a location that fits right in at the Happiest Place on Earth. The design elements are modern and playful, a perfect Disney fit. I also love that it provides a great little spot for fueling up before a long day in the parks. It’s also the perfect retreat if you need a break…
Just a few hours in and already a super long line.
Welcome to Downtown Disney, Starbucks!
Have you had a chance to visit the new Starbucks in Downtown Disney? If so, did you have a favorite design element? Did you try the Reserve coffees or play with the digital chalkboard? Let us know in the comments below.

What’s your very first treat stop after you enter Magic Kingdom?
Do you head straight to Main Street Bakery for a cuppa joe, or do you take in a few attractions while patiently awaiting a midday hot dog at Casey’s Corner?
Maybe you prefer to start the day at Magic Kingdom’s premiere sweet stop, the Main Street Confectionery.
Let’s say your traveling buddy’s tradition is to grab a Mickey Krispy Treat first thing in the morning (hey, it IS made of cereal!), but you’re in the mood for something a little more breakfast-y.
Well, you may be able to find something in that beautiful bakery case after all: a Strawberry Oat Bar with Smuckers Jelly.
It’s similar to a [Read more…]

We’re back with another crave-inducing installment of Disney Food Pics of the Week!
We all love waffles at Disney, right? I mean, there’s nothing better than digging into a Mickey Waffle for breakfast. 🙂
But did you know, there’s a TON of really interesting other waffles at Disney!
Today, we’re bringing you more of your pics, courtesy of our Flickr page, Disney Food Blog Photo Extravaganza! From snacks to sandwiches to Food and Wine Festival desserts, let’s take a look at your fantastic food finds!
Say it with me: It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year! Yep — we’re talking about Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival!
Last year, the Belgium Marketplace Booth capitalized on the popularity of their dessert waffles by offering a savory version! But the sweets, like the Belgian Waffle with Berry Compote, are always a good choice!

I know, I know. It’s the new year and you’re really trying to fit in your five servings of fruit and veggies every day, right? Well, I’m here to help you stick to that goal — even when you’re vacationing in Disney World!
Here are my top 5 ways to get my veggie servings in Disney World… . Don’t forget to take notes.
One of my favorite ways to get my veggies comes with a healthy dose of tequila. That’s right, Friends. We’re heading to Mexico — in Epcot, that is — to La Cava del Tequila.
Because that’s where you can get some of the green stuff via their Handmade Margaritas. (Yep, that’s right. None of that pre-made, swirling in the slushie machine stuff for you here.)
The Avacado Margarita is one of our favorites!
If you like a teensy bit of zip, go for the Jalapeño Margarita, which features tiny pieces of the peppers right in the mix.
Another refreshing option is the Cucumber Margarita.
Fans of this unusual choice swear by it. It’s like a spa treatment in a glass! With tequila!
Savvy parents have been sneaking veggies into stubborn kids’ food since the dawn of the food pyramid, I figure. And now, I think we should take a page from their book and visit Via Napoli in Epcot’s Italy Pavilion. Because who doesn’t love Pizza?
You guys — you know I think their pizza is totes the BEST. Ever. But hey, who says the best ever can’t have a few healthy benefits?
On our last visit, we tried several pies, including the luxurious Pizza Carciofi. Doesn’t “Artichoke” sound so much more appealing in Italian? This gorgeous pie also features Truffle Oil. So that’s got to count for a serving too, I’m thinking.
Or you can skip the pizza and have your [Read more…]

There’s lots new to see all over the World and the Land! So settle in, friends, and read on!
We’re starting this round at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant!
The House-made Sci-Fi Candy Bar has hit the dessert menu: a white and dark chocolate mousse layered between sponge cake and dipped in chocolate ganache.
There have been a couple of additions to 50’s Prime Time Café as well.
Another vegetarian entrée has been added to the menu: Sissy’s Vegetarian Favorite Multigrain Spaghetti! “Vegetable Protein and Mushrooms tossed in Marinara Sauce, just like Spaghetti and Meatballs.”
And don’t forget dessert! All your favorites remain, but Old-fashioned Handmade Milk Shakes are listed, featuring the famous “Peanut Butter & Jelly” and the limited time “Red Velvet Cupcake.”
Okay, this next update isn’t about food… it’s just next to food 😉 . But I couldn’t resist [Read more…]
