Disney’s Chief Executive Officer has been a hot topic of conversation lately. The company recently announced that Bob Iger would be stepping down from his long-time position for Josh D’Amaro to take over the role in March 2026.

Former Disney CEO Has One Message for the New Leader: “Continue Bob Iger’s Strategy”

Disney has finally named its next CEO, Josh D’Amaro. After months (if not years) of anticipation, the Disney Company announced the news on February 3rd, 2026, ahead of Bob Iger’s contract end.

When Disney CEO Bob Iger returned to take on the position for a second time in 2022, everyone — fans included — had high hopes.

After the pandemic, things started to slowly spiral downhill for a lot of media giants — Disney included. For starters, the relatively new Disney+ was expensive to build, and the revenue wasn’t rolling in like Disney had hoped, and theme park revenue and attendance were down because of COVID-19. Bob Iger, who’d recently retired from his position as CEO and was serving as a chairman, seemed to be the company’s only hope. So, in November 2022, he was back in the position. Now, over a year later, some analysts believe Disney doesn’t seem to be much better, although Iger has shared his hopes to make a profit again by the end of fiscal 2024. A former executive has chimed in.

Several celebrities, including Josh Gad (voice of Olaf in Frozen), Matt Martin (Sr. Creative Executive of Lucasfilm), and Tom K. Morris (Former Walt Disney Imagineer) commented on Bob Iger’s return, mainly in favor of the change in leadership. Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner sent a simple message on the day after Iger returned, saying “Welcome back to Disney, @RobertIger!” Now, Eisner has commented once again on the change.

Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner Comments on Bob Chapek

The Walt Disney Company has seen several different leaders over the course of its long history. Most recently, we saw a shift in leadership from former CEO Bob Iger to now CEO Bob Chapek.

Bob Iger officially left Disney on December 31st, 2021, having stepped down from the position of CEO back in February 2020. Bob Chapek has been in the position ever since. But, before the two Bobs, there was CEO Michael Eisner, who was head of The Walt Disney Company for 21 years, from 1984 to 2005. And, Eisner was recently interviewed on CNBC, where he spoke about current CEO Bob Chapek, as well as Bob Iger.
