There’s a NEW ride coming to Magic Kingdom, and we’re watching the construction progress like a HAWK. (Insert gesture of two fingers pointing at our eyes then turning to point at the ride here. 😉)
When Splash Mountain closed to become Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, we expected there would be some swift changes in the scenery, but quite a bit has been altered since the construction started earlier this year! We’ve been able to keep tabs on the queue area to see how it’s progressing, and now we’ve got an update to share.
Disney is bringing even more of the Bayou to California and now we know WHEN!
Tiana’s Palace is the long-awaited Quick Service New Orleans-inspired eatery coming to Disneyland that will replace the French Market Restaurant in New Orleans Square. The spot is set to feature some of the pizzazz and flair of the restaurant from the film, along with authentic New Orleans flavors. We’ve been watching as construction on this spot takes shape, but now Disney has announced the restaurant’s official opening date!
A NEW restaurant themed to The Princess and the Frog is coming to Disneyland Park and we’ve got some exciting news about it!
Tiana’s Palace is currently under construction and set to open at Disneyland Park later in 2023. It will feature authentic New Orleans flavors in a Quick Service style restaurant. You can’t ride “it’s a small world” without hearing that classic theme song, and the Haunted Mansion attraction just wouldn’t be the same without that spooky soundtrack! It may not always be the first thing you think of when a new attraction opens, but music is one of the most important parts of Disney storytelling.
Speaking of new attractions, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is coming soon to Disney World and Disneyland Resort in 2024. Every good ride needs a soundtrack, so let’s take a closer look at the new musical information Disney has revealed for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
What’s going on with Splash Mountain in Disneyland?
Disney has announced that Splash Mountain in both Disney World and Disneyland would be reimagined into a new attraction called Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, inspired by The Princess and the Frog. The ride has already permanently closed in Disney World and work is underway to begin that transformation. However, Disneyland’s Splash Mountain has remained open. But now we know when it, too, will close forever.
UPDATE: Disneyland has announced that the official closing date for Splash Mountain will be May 31st, 2023. The last day to ride will be May 30th. More information on the Splash Mountain closure at Disneyland is available here.
Splash Mountain has already permanently closed in Disney World to be transformed into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, a Princess and the Frog-themed attraction. And the same transformation will take place at Disneyland Park in California, with both of the rethemed rides opening in 2024. Though Disney World’s transformation has begun, Disney has not yet announced when the Disneyland version of the classic ride would close to allow for this change to take place.

It’s Mardi Gras season, but the French Market Restaurant AND Mint Julep Bar in Disneyland just CLOSED (to make way for the upcoming Tiana’s Palace restaurant). You know the Mint Julep Bar — the place where you could grab the delicious Mickey-shaped beignets at Disneyland? When we heard this news, we panicked a little, not gonna lie.
Of course, Disney knows better than to make us suffer from a lack of Mickey beignets, especially during Mardi Gras. Although the French Market Restaurant is permanently closed, the Mint Julep Bar will reopen later this year as part of Tiana’s Palace. In the meantime, you can grab Mickey beignets from another location at Disneyland!
