Guest Review: Boma in the Animal Kingdom Lodge

Welcome our Guest Reviewer Andrew Serio, who takes us to dinner at Boma inside the exotic Animal Kingdom Lodge. Let’s sample the flavors of Africa with him!

Boma, which is nestled down the stairs from the lobby of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, is among the most popular “non-character” buffet restaurants at the Walt Disney World Resort. After a several year span away from Boma, my wife Joy and I tried it again on a Thursday night in late February.

Because Boma shares a common exterior area with Jiko, things can get a little hectic when approaching the podium. This was the case on this evening, as there were a good many people milling about. However, when we approached the host stand, we were greeted immediately and cordially by James and Anna. Our ADR was verified, and we were asked to wait briefly while being handed a pager.

Welcome to Boma!

After a very short wait, we were ushered to our table, which was [Read more…]

Guest Review: Tables in Wonderland Cairo Dinner Show

Sarah Holodick is back with a great review from the Tables in Wonderland Indiana Jones dinner! Take it away, Sarah!

Indiana Jones Entrance

Matt and I had the opportunity to attend the Tables in Wonderland “Cairo Dinner Show.” The dinner was held on the set of the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at Hollywood Studios.

Upon arrival we were offered boxes of popcorn, bottled water, beer, or a fruity cocktail. I didn’t catch the name of it, but it was pretty weak. We stuck with [Read more…]

Guest Review: The Crystal Palace Restaurant

Welcome Guest Reviewer Katie Drake as she transports us to a by-gone era and the world of Winnie the Pooh!

Couldn’t snag a reservation with the princesses at the Castle? Why not try the Palace down the street?!

The Magic Kingdom’s Crystal Palace may not boast any Disney movie royalty, but it does have everyone’s favorite friends from the Hundred Acre Wood, available for meet and greets all day long.  Most guests take advantage of the scrumptious breakfast offerings, but the restaurant is one of the few at Walt Disney World that offers character meals three times a day, and lunch and dinner have several tasty offerings.

After walking down Main Street U.S.A., visitors are in a turn-of-the-century frame of mind, and taking a bit of refreshment in the conservatory sounds perfectly delightful. With it’s airy walls of windows and greenery throughout, the Crystal Palace feels like a Victorian greenhouse, but with plenty of AC cranking to keep the heat and humidity at bay.

Guests must wait outside on the veranda until their table is ready, the air stirred by [Read more…]

Review: Trail’s End Restaurant Lunch

Howdy, y’all!! Time for some vittles over at Trail’s End in Disney World’s Fort Wilderness (finally). Can you believe I’ve been writing this blog for TWO YEARS (Happy Birthday to us!) and haven’t gotten my own review of Trail’s End on here?! Anyway, time to change all that.

We headed over to Fort Wilderness via a beautiful boat ride a couple of weeks ago with the aim of sampling the a la carte lunch. I’d heard good and bad reviews, so I was definitely intrigued — especially since I’d only had Trail’s End’s breakfast buffet prior to [Read more…]

Guest Review: Akershus Princess Storybook Dinner

A huge thank you to Katie Drake for offering to document her family’s experience at the Akershus Princess Storybook Dinner in Disney World’s Norway Pavilion! I can’t wait until you see her pic of her daughter hugging Snow White…classic. Take it away, Katie!

Character meals are some of the toughest reservations to come by in Walt Disney World, particularly breakfasts. If the princess breakfasts are all booked and you can’t be first in the park, or you just want to sleep past 6 a.m. on your vacation, a character lunch or dinner is a great option. Akershus is one of the few restaurants at Disney that offers [Read more…]

There’s Always Room for More at Biergarten

Fun, family, entertainment, pretzel bread, and beer! Those are the things that come to mind when you think of Disney World’s Biergarten Restaurant! It’s one of those restaurants that’s almost sure to put a smile on your face.

The unassuming facade — and massive wooden door — of this Epcot Germany restaurant don’t begin to describe what you’ll find once you walk inside.

Oktoberfest at Biergarten

A soaring ceiling covers an auditorium of a restaurant, where long wooden tables surround a stage where just about anything can happen, including lederhosen!

Themed to represent a community square in a small village in Germany, the decor will automatically transport you to a different place. And in the main stage area, you’ll be treated to some wonderful authentic Alpine entertainment! Feel free to cut a rug on the [Read more…]

Trail’s End Lunch Goes From Buffet to a la Carte

Everyone’s favorite inexpensive buffet is making a change. Starting Sunday, August 27th, 2010, Fort Wilderness’ Trail’s End Restaurant will be serving a la Carte items for lunch instead of a buffet (on a trial basis). Menu items could include chili, fried chicken and waffles, sautéed catfish, grilled pork chop, spicy grilled shrimp and andouille sausage, Wilderness s’mores and a warm sticky bun sundae.

Breakfast and dinner remain buffet-style through the trial period.
