Top 7 Must-Try Disneyland Frozen Treats

Summer is right around the corner!!

Top 7 Disney Frozen Treats

And when the mercury climbs, there’s no better way to cool off at Disney than with one of their top-notch frozen treats!

But how do you choose just one??? Well, let’s be honest. We don’t. We choose, you know, seven.

Today, we’re taking a look at a few of our favorites, all in the name of helping you decide! Aren’t we nice like that? I don’t know about you, but I’m already feeling refreshed!

Hand-Dipped Ice Cream Bars at Clarabelle’s

One of my favorite frozen treat genres is the ice cream bar. After all, there are several foods with sticks on this list!

But one of the best, hands down, is the Make Your Own Ice Cream Bar at Clarabelle’s in Disney California Adventure.

Choose your Bar — Vanilla, Chocolate, or Mixed Berry Sorbet. And then choose your Dip from Milk or Dark Chocolate. After that, play with toppings by adding one, or all of them! And you walk out with the ice cream bar of your dreams.

Dole Whips! This week, we’re taking a look at one of our favorite Disney treats.

Shared by DFB Reader Mary: “I knew that Dole Whips were sold at the STL zoo, but this weekend was the first time I bought one there. I had the plain pineapple one while my fiance had pineapple and raspberry swirl. They were so yummy! I can’t wait to get a Dole Whip float on our trip to WDW.”

News and Review: Captain Cook’s Temporary Location at Disney’s Polynesian Resort

ALOHA from Disney’s Polynesian Resort!

Capt. Cook’s is the Polynesian’s Quick Service option — famous for Tonga Toast in the morning, and Pork Sandwiches and Nachos in the afternoon into the evening (more on their also-famous Dole Whips later in the post). You can typically find a few unique and stellar cupcakes here, too.

Well, its original location is currently closed for refurbishment from now until later this summer. We’re definitely looking forward to the new-and-improved digs, but in the meantime we thought we’d swing by to give you a quick look at the temporary location.

News! Disney Food Merchandise Coming to Downtown Disney’s Marketplace Co-op

As Downtown Disney begins its transformation in earnest to Disney Springs, there are already oodles of changes taking place. Just last week, Disney announced the closing date for Pollo Campero and NYC Babycakes in the Marketplace for March 19th.

But we’re not just saying goodbye to things, thankfully. There are already some “hellos” on the way in the not-too-distant future! Specifically, the Marketplace Co-op — formerly Team Mickey — will open its doors in just a couple months (no official opening date yet!).

Former location of Team Mickey

Disney recently provided a glimpse at some of merchandise that will make it’s debut at this location. According to Disney, the Marketplace Co-op will feature six boutiques and “serve as a testing space” for new retail shops and products. I gotta say, the first glimpse of some of the dining and kitchen merchandise coming to the Disney Centerpiece boutique has already passed the test with me…

I love the Dole Whip air fresheners that showed up at Disney World several months ago, but now it looks like we’ll be able to bring home 3-D versions of this treasured treat in a miniature ceramic! How cute would that be on a desk or shelf? (You’ll notice right next to the Dole Whips is also a ceramic Orange Bird :) .)

Marketplace Co Op Merchandise Disney Centerpiece (3)

You know the last thing I need in my home? Another glass. Still… you know what I totally need? Those colorful Adventureland glasses… or perhaps the Aloha Isle hurricanes! What?!??!?!?!?!

Every time I look at this picture I notice something new. For instance, our friend, the Orange Bird, is perched on top of an Adventureland napkin or placemat.

I love the rest of the line inspired by Adventureland, and those nods to some of the details – and our favorite birds! – found in Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room. All the plates you see in these images, by the way, are [Read more…]

Review: Tiki Juice Bar (and Dole Whip!) in Disneyland

Indulge me for a moment as we head over to Disneyland and talk Dole Whips. The refreshing, mysteriously creamy frozen pineapple soft serve is one of the treats that I enjoy at some point during every single trip to Disney, regardless of which coast I happen to be visiting.

But there’s just something even more special about it when you can score your Dole Whip fix from the Tiki Juice Bar in Disneyland.

I mean, there’s no “original” here. Dole’s partnership started with Disney after both Disneyland and Magic Kingdom were opened, and I remember the Dole logo from my earliest trips to Disney World, too.

Still, with the Tiki Juice Bar as a fixture and the fact that it’s actually part of the Enchanted Tiki Room Attraction — the original tie-in for the Disney-Dole partnership — how could you go wrong?

And if you haven’t had the pleasure of a Disneyland Dole Whip, you’re in for another surprise. Let’s take a look!

Atmosphere

The Tiki Juice Bar is an open-air, counter service kiosk, located adjacent to the Enchanted Tiki Room in Disneyland’s Adventureland. In fact, it’s part of the the Tiki Room’s pre-show. That’s one of my favorite parts of visiting!

Tiki Juice Bar

And there are some seriously fun touches here. This tiki helps to hold up the corner of the hut, fittingly. I love the little tiny guy, don’t you?

Spotted: Dole Whip and Popcorn Air Fresheners at Disney World!

Oh. My. Word… at LONG LAST!

Dole Whip and Popcorn Air Fresheners have arrived at Disney World!!!

Dole Whip and Popcorn Air Fresheners

You remember these, don’t you :)? Last Fall, a few of our favorite Disney snacks were highlighted in a unique way. For the first time, guests were able to bring a few beloved Disney snacks (and their scents!) home with them in the form of air fresheners. You can read the reviews of each of these scents here.

The original foursome is still available: Turkey Leg, Mickey Ice Cream Bar, Candy Apple, and Mickey Waffle.

Turkey Leg and Mickey Ice Cream Bar Air Fresheners

Candy Apple and Mickey Waffle Air Fresheners

As fun — and truly iconic — as these fresheners are, the initial selection immediately begged the question: Soooo… where’s the Dole Whip?”

And now, it’s HERE.

You know what else? It. Smells. TERRIFIC!

Of all the fresheners available, I think this one is the closest match to its real-life mate! And the image is even more realistic [Read more…]

What’s The Best Walt Disney World Park for Dining?

There is so much to love about the parks of Walt Disney World.

What's the Best Disney World Park for Dining?

The rides and attractions. The sense of history — both in the parks, and the memories that we’ve all made in them. The incredible themeing that greets you at every turn.

But of course, what do we love the most? The FOOD!

I’m serious about eating when I’m in Disney parks. And I know you are, too! But which Disney World park is the best when it comes time for eating?

This is a question I get asked a LOT; and it’s always tough to make a choice. Sure — Epcot has the largest number of fantastic restaurants, but there are some snacks that can’t be beat in Magic Kingdom; and the other parks offer some not-to-be-missed items, too.

There are some seriously awesome, edible reasons to visit each park — and I’m going to share some of my favorites with you today!

Get ready, because I want to hear your point of view, too! What’s your favorite Walt Disney World Park for Dining…and why?

Magic Kingdom

Eating your way through Magic Kingdom seems to me to be one part fantasy food, and one part pure nostalgia. It would be hard to imagine not carving our a few days on my menu for some of my favorite stops here!

Nutella and Fruit Waffle Sandwich at Sleep Hollow

For brunch or lunch, I can never pass up the chance to have a Waffle Sandwich at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments. Choose from Nutella (!!!) and Fruit, Spicy Chicken, or Ham, Prosciutto, and Swiss.

Seriously delicious — and enormous. I like to get two and split them among friends for a little variety.
