Dining in Disneyland: FIRST LOOK! The Jolly Holiday Bakery

It’s a Jolly Holiday on Main Street! It’s open everyone, it’s open! We’ve been waiting patiently or maybe not so patiently for the new Jolly Holiday Bakery to open since it’s cute signs started enticing us months ago.

Yesterday, the Jolly Holiday Bakery, a counter service eatery, soft opened in Disneyland with a “Grand Opening” planned for Saturday, January 7th.  I am happy to announce that I was there yesterday morning on the very first day of service and everything was spit spot!

We’re covering both breakfast AND lunch at the bakery in this post, so stay tuned for dozens of mouth-watering photos of what’s available…like these!!

Atmosphere

When walking up to Jolly Holiday, I noticed that it was a completely full house with the line wrapping around out the door.  It was prime breakfast time and with this being the only eatery open on Main Street, it was the place to be.  Not to worry though, the line moves quick and once inside, it splits into two lines with multiple speedy cashiers ready to take care of business! There is plenty of outdoor seating & even with a long line, there were many available tables to choose from.

Guest Review: Epcot’s Tutto Italia

Join me in welcoming back guest author Aaron Crum with a review of Epcot’s Tutto Italia! Grazie Aaron!

This classic Italian restaurant is tucked back behind the tower in Epcot’s Italy, and as soon as you see the sign out front and enter the lobby you know you are in for a special treat.

We had reservations at lunch, and while I stayed outside to snap a couple of photos, the rest of our party went ahead into the lobby.

By the time I headed in, our party was already seated at our table. We were promptly greeted by our waitress and a welcoming basket of bread and olive oil.

The restaurant itself has a quaint feel to it, and the walls are lined with “replica” Italian paintings.

Review: Le Cellier’s New Lunch Menu

We stopped by Le Cellier in Canada last week to sample the lunch menu, which has been tweaked yet again!

But more than just the menu, there were a few other surprises in store for us at Le Cellier as well! There’s a new martini flight, the desserts have been changed up a bit, and…believe it or not…the bread has changed!!

Let’s take a look…

Atmosphere

The atmosphere here remains exactly the same. You’re dining in a wine cellar, basically, so there are no windows and there’s very little light.

The feel is cozy, however, rather than [Read more…]

Guest Review: Captain’s Grille at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Thanks to reader Sarah McGovern for this review of lunch at the Captain’s Grille in Disney’s Yacht Club Resort!

On the second day of the Destination D event, I wanted to get away from the crowds and have a nice quiet lunch with my husband Barry. I’ve heard many positive things about Captain’s Grille and how quiet it can be, so we took a drive over to the Yacht Club.

Atmosphere and Eats

We were seated right away without a reservation, as the restaurant was quiet with only about a third of the tables filled.

We reviewed our menus, which consisted of a combination of nautical fare such as crab cakes, clam chowder, and a lobster roll, and the typical Walt Disney World lunch selections of salads, burgers, and sandwiches. “The Captain’s Burger” sounded interesting, consisting of the Angus Chuck Burger topped with Lump Crab meat and Choron Sauce, which is a variation of Bearnaise sauce with tomato puree. But this seemed a bit heavy for lunch to the both of us.

We ordered the Green Goddess Salad and the New England Clam Chowder for appetizers; and I chose the Tomato & Mozzarella Sandwich, while Barry ordered the Angus Chuck Burger, sans crab and choron.

Interestingly, when Barry asked [Read more…]

Le Cellier Lunch Menu Shifts

Le Cellier gradauted its dinner menu to a Signature Dining option earlier this year (see our review here), but that wasn’t the end of the changes!

Our good friend Andy from Eating (and Drinking) around WDW recently sent over these photos of the new lunch menu at Le Cellier, which has been spiffed up a bit to accompany the restaurant’s new ‘spensive dinner menu.

Gone are the Grilled Sirloin Salad and the Open-Face Canadian Cheese Steak Sandwich, replaced with a Crispy Fried Steak (roasted peppers, field greens, boursin cheese sauce (hubba hubba!!), and potato salad) and Le Cellier’s Steak and Potato Skillet (Beef tenderloin, mushrooms, and [Read more…]

Review: Trail’s End Restaurant Lunch

Howdy, y’all!! Time for some vittles over at Trail’s End in Disney World’s Fort Wilderness (finally). Can you believe I’ve been writing this blog for TWO YEARS (Happy Birthday to us!) and haven’t gotten my own review of Trail’s End on here?! Anyway, time to change all that.

Atmosphere

We headed over to Fort Wilderness via a beautiful boat ride a couple of weeks ago with the aim of sampling the a la carte lunch. I’d heard good and bad reviews, so I was definitely intrigued — especially since I’d only had Trail’s End’s breakfast buffet prior to [Read more…]

Fresh Introduces New Signature Cocktail Menu

The Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort‘s mixology lab has come up with another new menu of delicious drinks.

New Cocktail Menu at Fresh

This time, Fresh — located in the Dolphin section of the resort — unveils a colorful array of cocktails ranging from the classic Mimosa and Bloody Mary to the more extravagant Istanbul Coffee, Egyptian Honey Bourbon Tea, and Barcelona White Sangria. While the former selections are guest favorites, the latter options offer guests a taste of the restaurant’s signature Mediterranean flavors.

I had the chance to sample the brand new “Fresh” Extraction — a combination of Ketel One Citroen and the fresh juice extracts of Kiwi, Apple, Wheatgrass, [Read more…]

Le Cellier Dinner Will Require 2 Dining Plan Credits Beginning March 2011

UPDATE: This is confirmed — click here to see the full 2011 Disney Dining Plan PDF. Below is a screen shot of the Le Cellier credit expenditure.

Thanks to Len Testa for the confirmation and GDPinvestigation for the PDF.
______________

While the “Le Cellier 2-credit” rumor had always been alive and well among Disney circles, I’ve never found enough evidence to report it here on the Disney Food Blog.

However, I received a mysterious email in my inbox last week mentioning that Le Cellier dinner will begin to require 2 Disney Dining Plan Table-Service credits starting in March 2011. Alas, the rumor has been confirmed.

Epcot’s Le Cellier Steak House will require 2 Disney Dining Plan credits for dinner, beginning March 1, 2011. Lunch will still be 1 credit.

Guest Review: Tusker House Lunch With Finding Nemo Package

UPDATE: When Tusker House switched to a character meal for lunch in 2011, the Finding Nemo Package seating was discontinued. As always, things change often in Disney, so be sure to ask your reservations agent for details.

I am so pleased to bring you this post by guest author Michele (also known as @MyMuse18 on the twitter) all about Animal Kingdom’s Tusker House Finding Nemo package (i.e. — book lunch at Tusker House and get reserved seating at the Finding Nemo Musical. Take it away, Michele!

After my fun-filled Backstage Safari tour, a Hidden Mickey hunt through Camp Minnie-Mickey, and strolling through Asia, it was time for my dining reservation at Tusker House! By making a reservation between 1:00-1:45pm specifically, I also received a reserved seating voucher for the 3:15 showing of “Finding Nemo: The Musical.”

I checked in at the outdoor podium and had just enough time to watch a dance lesson. One of the dancers even posed for me!
