Disney Recipe from the Vault: Cinnamon Rolls from Main Street Bakery in Magic Kingdom

Ahhhhh. cinnamon rolls. How I love thee. You are the undisputed Breakfast of Champions. And the best of the lot, in my opinion, were the ones available at Pre-Starbucks Main Street Bakery in the old days.

Now, I’m not jumping on Starbucks. I know that lots and lots and lots of you are super happy the Siren has moved into Main Street Bakery. But…well…I mean, just look at this.

And I know that the cinnamon rolls at Gaston’s Tavern in New Fantasyland are supposed to be the same. Well. Okay. Whatever you say, Disney.

But whatever the reason, these are still my favorite. And I do wish you could still get them — and all those scoops of extra icing! Yum! Well, no matter. Because we have the recipe! And knowledge is power.

Disney Recipe: Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli from the California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Today, I’m excited to share with you a recipe for one of my all-time favorite Disney dishes from the California Grill!

I enjoy going to this posh restaurant when I’m celebrating a special occasion, or just meeting friends for an extra special evening. And anytime I visit California Grill, you can bet that I’ll order the Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli! In fact, I ordered it during my most recent visit (it’s still there after the menu revamp!) and it never fails to impress.

The smooth, creamy, and slightly tangy filling of the house made ravioli is the perfect combination with the vibrant tomato broth. So it’s awesome to know that if I find myself with a craving for it between visits, I have a great recipe to fall back on!

DIY Disney Recipe -- Pot Roast from Liberty Tree Tavern

You can try this delicious dish at the Liberty Tree Tavern at Walt Disney World. There’s nothing like stepping back into time as you enter Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom Park.

Thanks to Cooking with Mickey and the Disney Chefs, we’re gonna break this recipe down step by step with pictures for you to make and enjoy at home. So, let’s get started!

Disney Recipe: Pistachio Crème Brûlée from Tony’s Town Square in Magic Kingdom

Crème Brûlée is a favorite dessert among Disney diners, it would seem. Judging from the fact that you’ll find it on nearly every table service restaurant’s dessert menu, guests must love it a lot!

Pistachio Creme Brulee

Me? Well, it’s not always my favorite, but that’s more due to some of the not-great versions I’ve had. But when it’s good, it’s very very good — and I have certainly found a few varieties at Disney that number among my favorite desserts.

The Pistachio Crème Brûlée at Tony’s Town Square is worth saving room for!

Disney Recipe: Peanut Butter, Banana, and Candied Bacon Pie From the Boardwalk Bakery

And now…a recipe for a super-interesting new dessert in Disney World!

When the brand new BoardWalk Bakery reopened earlier this year, we were there bright and early on the very first morning to bring you a full account of what was new, and what was returning.

And while we found many brand new things to love, like the Lemon Meringue Tart (sigh), one of our top pics was the Peanut Butter, Banana, and Candied Bacon Pie!

Sounds pretty keen, doesn’t it?

Recipe: Eats From the Epcot Food and Wine Festival Cranberry Bog

Welp, the awesome 2013 Epcot Food and Wine Festival is coming to a close! It’s been a great 45 days of eats, treats, drinks and, of course, cranberries. ;-)

Ocean Spray Cranberry Bog at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival

The Ocean Spray Cranberry Bog was back again this year! You’ll remember the fun we had IN the BOG last year, and we got the chance again this year to traipse around in the berries for a bit…and sample some super yum eats…

Cocktail Party set up INSIDE the bog :-)

…and drinks!

Vodka, Cranberries, and Dancing Water!

And while we bid a fond farewell to the festival and that awesome Bog for another year, I thought it would be fun to share a great, wintry recipe that might carry the Festival fun through another couple of months for you! ;-) Cranberries (and CHEEZ!!!) are highlighted, of [Read more…]

Disney Recipe: Nudel Gratin from Epcot’s Germany Pavilion

It’s time for another delicious Disney recipe! And this one is seriously a MUST-TRY for any cheese addicts out there.

When it comes to Eating Around the World, an awesome family destination is the Germany Pavilion in Epcot’s World Showcase. Their Biergarten Restaurant will trick you into thinking you’ve hopped a plane for Bavaria.

And a bounty of brand new delights await you if you haven’t been to Sommerfest, their counter service spot, in a while.

One of my favorite dishes on the Biergarten buffet is the amazing Nudel Gratin. This is one of the best versions of macaroni and cheese that I’ve ever tasted in my life.

So when it popped up on the Sommerfest menu, we had to try it.

But even better — now, I can make it between trips to Walt Disney World, thanks to this recipe! I know what we’re having for dinner tonight! :-)

DIY Disney Recipe: Elderflower Cocktail

If you spend any time checking out the menus of Disney restaurants, you’ll notice that St. Germain Liqueur is popping up a lot these days!

And with good reason! St. Germain is a French liqueur that’s made from elderflowers. The delicate, sweet taste is very unique and seems to be taking Disney World by storm.

Elderflower Cocktail with Pansy Garnish at Raglan Road

We’ve recently had Elderflower Cocktails at the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival (where it’s made with elderflower syrup) as well as for brunch at Raglan Road.

With flavors that remind me of grapefruit and honey, this liqueur makes for a lovely warm weather cocktail. So for a recent family gathering, we decided to give it a try!

St. Germain Cocktail, Three Ways

We opted for the small, 50 ml bottles of liqueur. Actually, the store was out of the larger bottles, or that’s the way that we would have gone! A little pricey, but sooo worth it.

The bottles [Read more…]
