Even though it’s been about nine months since Disney World reopened [and more since this post was originally published], there are still lots of things around the resort that have remained closed.
Between the rides, restaurants, and resorts, there are a lot of locations that have yet to welcome guests again. Here’s a quick look at everything that still hasn’t opened in Disney World.
Restaurants
Between the parks and resorts, tons of restaurants remain closed. And surprisingly, some of them are serious fan-favorite spots! These are the places where you still can’t dine in the parks:
Magic Kingdom
As of September 12, 2021, with the reopening of The Diamond Horseshoe, all Magic Kingdom eateries have reopened!
EPCOT
- Akershus Royal Banquet Hall
- Monsieur Paul
- Restaurant Marrakesh
- Takumi-Tei
- Tangierine Cafe (Please Note: Tangierine Cafe is currently serving as a Marketplace Food Booth for the 2021 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival!)
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- Caravan Road (However, please note that Caravan Road has always been a seasonal location)
At Disney’s Resorts, these are the spots where you still can’t dine:
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge:
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa:
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort:
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Resort:
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort:
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge:
Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa:
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort:
And naturally, you can’t dine at the restaurants in the resorts that have not opened yet.
Resorts
Disney Resorts have gradually made a comeback. Disney’s Beach Club Resort reopened at the end of May followed by Disney’s Wilderness Lodge on June 6th and Disney’s BoardWalk Inn on July 2nd. And Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort fully reopened on July 19th, followed by Animal Kingdom Lodge on August 26th, Disney’s All-Star Music on September 16th, and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside on October 14th! There are two resorts that currently remain closed, and the status of each is listed below:
- Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter will reopen on October 28, 2021!
- Disney’s All-Star Sports was originally scheduled to reopen on December 9, 2021. However, in September 2021, Disney announced that the reopening of All-Star Sports has been delayed indefinitely. A reopening date will be announced at a later time.
Wait…Why Did Some Hotels Reopen TWICE in Disney World?
Attractions
Sadly, there are a few iconic rides that we haven’t been able to experience in over a year now.
- Walt Disney World Railroad (it’s been more than 2 years!)
- Enchanted Tales With Belle
We sure hope we’re able to take a spin on these rides again soon.

Shows
Lots of entertainment has been suspended around Walt Disney World since its reopening, like character meet-and-greets, fireworks shows, and parades. But, in October 2021, Disney announced that select Character Meet-and-Greets will return to Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in November (albeit, in a modified fashion)!

Tokyo Dining in Epcot is also still closed!
Afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian still has not reopened.
I get that they are using some of the restaurants for overflow queues for rides (we’re talking about you Columbia Harbour House), but this needs to change considering how far in advance you now need to order online to get a pick up time. This is becoming way more than tedious.
Is the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique open at the Magic Kingdom?
Amy, not yet.
Is it possible to add closed shops and miscellaneous to this list so that’s it is a constant list of exactly what hasn’t returned yet. For example:
– UK sportsman’s shoppe hasn’t reopened
– Character meet and greets
– Buffets
– Different acts through out the parks ( Sergio, China acrobats)
Just thoughts to have a total list of everything. I check this constantly for updates:)
Mike, I shared your suggestion with the team just now.
Any word on Sea Raycer rentals at resorts?
The Main Street Vehicles haven’t returned. I’m so sad because that’s my favorite way to start off my 1st day of a Disney trip.
Nicole, no word on this. We’ll keep our eyes and ears open.
Thank you so much for listening to my feedback and including shops and shows to this list!! Love to see you care about your readers feedback!
Mike, it was a great idea! Thanks for reaching out.
