Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a real-life superhero? Well, when you’re visiting Disneyland Resort you can actually make that happen!
Avengers Campus is an entire land in Disney California Adventure dedicated to the Marvel superheroes that we’re used to seeing on the big screen. And, you’ll be able to experience more than a casual wave to Iron Man…you can actually become a superhero on the newest attraction, WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure. Since opening, the attraction has operated with a virtual queue (something that many Disney fans have become used to when visiting the parks nowadays), but it seems that this has changed!
Last month, Disneyland quietly updated its website to reflect a BIG change to the virtual queue system. Basically, it adjusted the language from guests always needing to get a spot in the virtual queue to ride to now stating that guests may be required to join a virtual queue. And, it appears that Disney has put this into action and is instead operating the standby queue today.
When we checked the Disneyland app today, WEB SLINGERS had a standby wait time listed, indicating that the virtual queue had been disabled.
We were then able to further confirm this by going into the Virtual Queue section of the app where we could clearly see that Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance was still operating with the virtual queue…
…while WEB SLINGERS was not. The “How to Experience” description explains this a bit further stating that “The standby line access for WEB SLINGER: A Spider-Man Adventure may be available at park open and again after boarding groups have been called for the day. Check the attraction listing to learn if current attraction access is via virtual queue or standby line.”
If this feels familiar, that’s because we’ve seen the virtual queue paused at another attraction — just on the opposite coast! Earlier this year, Disney World announced that they would be pausing the virtual queue system for Rise of the Resistance in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. A virtual queue can still be found at the new attraction, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, in EPCOT, and it could make its way back to Rise of the Resistance eventually.
WEB SLINGERS virtual queue situation is a bit different than that at Rise of the Resistance in Disney World because it seems that Disneyland is using it on an “as needed” basis. Because of this, you’ll want to be sure that you check the Disneyland app before you make your plans on how you’ll ride this popular attraction. If the virtual queue is in place, boarding group distribution times are at 7AM and 12PM.
Of course, we’ll continue to keep an eye out for more updates on the virtual queue system in the Disney Parks, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest!
