There are a few reasons you should look up the next time you’re on Main Street, U.S.A in a Disney Park.
Whether you’re in Disneyland or Disney World, if you look closely at the windows, you’ll spot the names of people who have made legendary contributions to Disney Parks. Today, another Disney Legend received that special honor, and here’s where you’ll find his name.
Today in Disneyland, a Main Street, U.S.A. window was dedicated in honor of Disney Legend Dave Smith. The window was covered with a red curtain as the 2022 Disneyland Ambassadors prepared to celebrate this Disney Legend’s incredible contributions.
Dave Smith was the founder and chief archivist of The Walt Disney Company, having founded the Walt Disney Archives, which is an extensive collection of Disney history, from Walt Disney (the person) to the company itself. Smith joined The Walt Disney Company in 1970, and his first assignment was to document every item in Walt Disney’s office. He also wrote many books about his Disney knowledge, and he was widely regarded as the final authority when it came to Disney history.
The 2022 Disneyland Ambassadors, Mark Everett King Jr., and Nataly Guzman dedicated the window to Dave Smith and posted the ceremony in their Instagram stories. “When You Wish Upon a Star” was performed by a choir while the window was revealed, and the celebration continued as the crowd remembered Dave Smith’s legendary contributions to The Walt Disney Company. Smith passed away in 2019, but he will certainly not be forgotten.
If you find yourself in Disneyland Park, make sure you look up on Main Street to check out the window dedicated to Disney Legend Dave Smith!
