As the U.S. Government shutdown stretches on, the political showdown is putting increasing pressure on the country’s aviation infrastructure to the point where sections of the country’s airspace may be shut down week.

According to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, beginning next week, “You will see mass flight delays. You’ll see mass cancellations, and you may see us close certain parts of the airspace, because we just cannot manage it, because we don’t have the air traffic controllers.”
