MagicBands have been a part of life in Disney World since 2013, but they recently received a major glow-up in the form of the MagicBand+.
The original MagicBand and the new MagicBand+ operate similarly, letting Disney World guests use them to gain entry to the parks, enter Lightning Lanes, pay for merchandise, and more, and MagicBand+ even offers some fun interactive features. Over on the West Coast, Disneyland has never had any form of the MagicBand, but we found out that the new MagicBand+ would be coming there this year, too! And now, we finally have an idea of when MagicBand+ will be available at Disneyland Resort.
MagicBand+ debuted in Disney World on July 27th, 2022, and now Disneyland will get the MagicBand+ starting this fall! This will be the first time MagicBands have been introduced to Disneyland, and while we still don’t have an exact date, we do know that it will be here soon, since fall is arriving now.
MagicBand+ costs between $34.99 to $44.99, depending on the design, and you’ll be able to sync it with the Disneyland app to use it in the park. Using the app, you can personalize your band by doing things like selecting unique light colors and adjusting the vibration and motion recognition settings.
MagicBand+ includes lights and haptics that interact with certain areas of the parks, like the gold 50th Anniversary statues in Disney World. But, keep in mind that Disney has said that MagicBand+ features and experiences will vary between Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.
When the bands launch at Disneyland Resort, several features will be available, but there will be more coming in the future. Disney says that at launch, you will be able to connect your MagicBand+ to your theme park ticket or Magic Key pass in the Disneyland app, use it to check in at Lightning Lane entrances, and tap your band to link any photos taken of you by Disney Photopass photographers.
There will also be some new, immersive elements and surprises to park experiences. The bands will be in sync with moments during the nighttime spectaculars, including World of Color in Disney California Adventure park and Fantasmic! and other select nighttime shows in Disneyland park. You’ll see that the bands will complement what’s happening in the show by pulsing with lights and vibrations.
Over in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland park, you can go on the Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters interactive quest. Your band will help guide you to find virtual bounties across the land, and when you find them, you can use the augmented reality thermal viewer in the Play Disney Parks app to see who’s hiding in the shadows! When you complete your mission, local guild master Raga Bua will reward you with galactic credits.
Get ready, because MagicBand+ will be in Disneyland before we know it! We’ll let you know when we get an exact date.
If you can’t wait to get your hands on one, you can actually purchase the MagicBand+ on shopDisney now, so you can be prepared for the launch date in Disneyland! You can check out a bunch of new designs that are available online right now, or take a look at all of the bands we’ve seen in Disney World so you can get an idea of some of the designs.
We also spotted some NEW Disneyland specific designs in this video from Disney, which gives a closer look at how MagicBand+ will be used in the parks.

Does anyone know if you’ll be able to add a credit card to the magicband/disneyland app even if you’re not staying on a Disney property? Or if the good neighbor resorts will be accessible with the magicbands?

Will MagicBand+ used with a WDW Annual Passholder work at Disneyland?
DFB Gigi says
Hi Stephen! Your MagicBand+ will work if you link it to your Disneyland ticket or pass.
Mandy says
Will regular magic bands work? We have Magic Bands from previous trips to Disney World. I’d like to use those instead of buying new ones if able to.
