Could a new experience be coming to Disneyland sooner than expected?

Disneyland has some big plans for expansion for the next few decades and is inching closer to opening a major E-ticket attraction later this year, but lost in the chaos is something that was announced early last year. A NEWÂ Avatar experience is slated to make its way to the Disneyland Resort and, while much isn’t known about it, there are hints the wheels could be in motion!
Per Scott Gustin on X, Avatar franchise producer Jon Landau recently met with Walt Disney Imagineering about “the future.” Since the Disneyland Avatar project is the only major announcement regarding the franchise’s latest expansion into the Disney Parks, speculation has arisen about what this meeting could mean.

Back in February 2023, Disney announced a “bold” new Avatar experience would be coming to the Disneyland Resort, made in collaboration with Avatar director James Cameron. Since then, we haven’t learned much about the experience aside from its future location at Disney California Adventure.
Pandora at Disney World
Currently, the box office-smashing franchise has a themed land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom that features two big attractions — Na’vi River Journey and Avatar Flight of Passage. We don’t know if the new experience in Disneyland will be a new ride, but with current spacing limitations, an entirely new land such as Animal Kingdom’s Pandora seems unlikely. In fact, these limitations could ultimately lead to a brand new experience that doesn’t exist yet at ANY Disney Park. Of course, all of this is still speculative and we’ll let you know the exact details as soon as they’re known.
