Jambo from The Mara in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge!
It wasn’t all that long ago that we were here, pointing out three Must-Eat Snacks at the Lodge’s Counter Service option and sipping on some new-to-The-Mara Frozen Jungle Juice. But the Jungle Juice wasn’t the only new thing we found on that visit, which is what we’re excited to share with you today.
Longtime standouts at The Mara for lunch and dinner include unique items such as African Potjie Stew and tasty Soups of the Day alongside classic Burgers, Flatbreads, and Chicken Breast Nuggets.
That said, they aren’t afraid to switch things up every once in a while — and that’s a VERY good thing! Every so often, your basic Hot Dog or sandwich gets a bit of an African-inspired twist, as is the case with two of the three new items we’re trying today.
So, come right back into The Mara with us!
The Mara gets its name from the Masai Mara National Reserve, located in southwestern Kenya on the border of Tanzania. The small food court is only accessible from outside the resort, on the lower level and near the pool. Once inside, you’ll immediately notice the ceiling artfully mimicking the tree tops and some soft ambient lighting that creates interesting shadows. [Read more…]
Welcome back to Intermission Food Court!
Located in All Star Music Resort, Intermission Food Court shares a lot in common with its fellow All Star Food Courts: End Zone and World Premiere in All Star Sports and All Star Movies, respectively.
You’ll find lots of Counter Service classics like burgers, chicken nuggets, pizzas, hot dogs, and the like. And while you can find menu items unique to each spot and plenty of good grub (remember those super fun milkshakes we talked about earlier this summer?), things can start to feel a bit same ol’, same ol’ every so often.
Which is why it was a fun surprise to find a new savory snack at Intermission! I mean, what about those moments when you’re kinda over French Fries and chips? Enter: Fried Pickles… when you can find them, that is (more on that later).
These Fried Pickles are an option as a side for an entree, and you can also get them as a snack on their own. They come with six pickle spears and a pouch of Ken’s Ranch Dressing. [Read more…]
Wanna know a secret? Then come with me to World Premiere Food Court at All Star Movies Resort for an AMAZING one!!
The Food Courts at the All Star Resorts — Sports, Music, and Movies (which is the Resort we’re visiting today) — are pretty fun places. Since the All Stars land in the category of Value Resorts, they don’t offer a Table Service restaurant. So that means the Resort Food Courts are extra big and packed with options to feed the huge numbers of guests in these sprawling Resorts.
That said, the menus tend to cater to the masses primarily with safe bets like pizza, hot dogs, and the like. While the All Stars Food Court counterparts — Pop Century’s Everything Pop and the Art of Animation Resort’s Landscape of Flavors — raised the bar in providing some more unique options, the All Star Resort Food Courts… well, let’s just say they’ve never exactly been what you might call a place of intrigue.
Until now… thanks to the arrival of a few SECRET MENU ITEMS at World Premiere Food Court! And seriously, this is pretty darn cool!
Our stealth, on-the-scene reporter snuck in to the food court in a trench coat and fedora. [Read more…]
Heather Sievers, our Disneyland correspondent and the queen behind @DiningInDisney, knows how to have fun with Disney food. She’s hooking us up with Disney Frankenfoods, which are mash-ups between two (or more!) complementary Disney foods. Today we have one of her most recent food combos — a Churro Cotton Candy Churro!
Churro Cotton Candy is found in Disneyland’s Downtown Disney. You can find tubs of cotton candy in unique flavors like Strawberry Lemonade, Green Apple, and Pina Colada! These tubs are super convenient; it’s a lot easier to keep your cotton candy fresh throughout the day when it comes in a tub rather than a bag.
Heather went straight for the Churro Cotton Candy. But she also knew it wasn’t quite complete. Because what could go better with Churro Cotton Candy than an actual Churro? So she grabbed one of those, too. Wrap that cinnamon-sugar stick in the spiced spun sugar, and BA-DAH-BING!
You’ve got yourself a Churro Cotton Candy Churro! [Read more…]

Whether you’ve been to Walt Disney World one time or one hundred times, there’s always something new to do. And right now, there’s a ton! Besides the opening of Pandora, the World’s newest land located at Animal Kingdom, there are seven other fun and functional new experiences you’ve gotta try!
has been offered since May 2017, and now it’s expanded to more locations! Mobile Ordering allows guests to use their My Disney Experience app to pre-order and pre-pay for meals at counter service locations.
Mobile Ordering lets participating guests bypass the ordering queue and go directly to the Order Pick-Up window. No more waiting in long lines to order your nuggets, y’all!
Summer is the season of frozen treats, and while we don’t think you ever need a specific reason to indulge in ice cream, the heat in central Florida is certainly a sufficient and easy excuse.
Enter Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop!
Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop is located in the Marketplace of Disney Springs, with the “Spitting Stitch” entrance of World of Disney on one side and the Marketplace Co-Op on the other (Disneylanders can find Ghirardelli in Disney California Adventure, too). You might know Ghirardelli as the San Fran-sophisticated shop that emits the irresistible scent of chocolate (and the spot where you can still snag a free sample of the famously creamy Ghirardelli Chocolate Squares).
In addition to chocolate, Ghirardelli always plays a great Sundae game. Treats come complete with San Francisco-inspired names like the Golden Gate Banana Split. There’s also a spectacular four (or more) person delight called the The Earthquake with its EIGHT scoops of ice cream and full toppings (think of it as akin to Beaches and Cream’s Kitchen Sink, only without an Advance Dining Reservation).
So, everybody, grab a spoon, and join us as we try two Sundaes we hadn’t tried on previous visits: the Presidio Passion and the Crissy Field.
FYI, Presidio National Park is located at the Golden Gate in San Francisco, and the Presidio Passion Sundae inspired by this unique park is a chocolate-covered strawberry lover’s dream!
Swirls of strawberry and chocolate come together in this indulgent cup (the cup is key here, as it’s easy to carry with you if you’ve grabbed your sundae on the go!). Just LOOK at it…
Ready to create a little culinary MAGIC?
Because THAT’S the goal for participants in the Cake Decorating Experience at Amorette’s Patisserie, the Disney owned-and-operated bakery in Disney Springs. From the get-go (it has been open for just over a year), Amorette’s Patisserie has been known for offering a feast for the eye as well as the palate, creating miniature works of art in the form of pastries, cookies, and cakes.
Guests visiting Amorette’s have also spied Character Dome Cakes among the treats. These signature creations feature the associated colors and costume features of beloved characters like Goofy, Donald, Minnie, and Pluto. But perhaps none are as recognizable as the Main Mouse himself: Mickey!
In fact, registered participants in the Cake Decorating Experience at Amorette’s Patisserie get to learn how to decorate a Mickey Mouse Dome Cake of their very own in a hands-on, small group setting limited to twelve guests. And we’d like to share with you our experience at the class today!
The 90-minute class started bright and early at 9:00 am in the Amorette’s Patisserie show kitchen. (The store itself doesn’t typically open until 11:00 am or 12:00 noon each day, so the class takes place prior to opening.) [Read more…]
