Are our stomachs starting to ache from trying all the new sweets? Maybe a little. But are we going to give up? Never. We’re not quitters. We’re heading into the parks to try a 50th anniversary take on one of our favorite Animal Kingdom deserts.
If you’ve been following along as DFB comes to you LIVE from the very first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party of the season, you already know that the treat game is off the chain this year — for better and for worse. Click here to see our live munchy mania!
And even though it’s the Christmas season at Magic Kingdom, this is still central Florida, and ice cream is an acceptable treat year-round. [Read more…]
Specialty treats come and go in the Disney Parks, and when Mickey’s 90th birthday party arrived in November 2018, Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop in Disney Springs made some frozen magic with the Magical Birthday Sundae.
But then… it was gone. For weeks. Until it then appeared at Disney California Adventure’s Ghirardelli location, rebranded as the Magical Sundae. [Read more…]
Summer is the season of frozen treats, and while we don’t think you ever need a specific reason to indulge in ice cream, the heat in central Florida is certainly a sufficient and easy excuse.
Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop is located in the Marketplace of Disney Springs, with the “Spitting Stitch” entrance of World of Disney on one side and the Marketplace Co-Op on the other (Disneylanders can find Ghirardelli in Disney California Adventure, too). You might know Ghirardelli as the San Fran-sophisticated shop that emits the irresistible scent of chocolate (and the spot where you can still snag a free sample of the famously creamy Ghirardelli Chocolate Squares).
In addition to chocolate, Ghirardelli always plays a great Sundae game. Treats come complete with San Francisco-inspired names like the Golden Gate Banana Split. There’s also a spectacular four (or more) person delight called the The Earthquake with its EIGHT scoops of ice cream and full toppings (think of it as akin to Beaches and Cream’s Kitchen Sink, only without an Advance Dining Reservation).
So, everybody, grab a spoon, and join us as we try two Sundaes we hadn’t tried on previous visits: the Presidio Passion and the Crissy Field.
FYI, Presidio National Park is located at the Golden Gate in San Francisco, and the Presidio Passion Sundae inspired by this unique park is a chocolate-covered strawberry lover’s dream!
Swirls of strawberry and chocolate come together in this indulgent cup (the cup is key here, as it’s easy to carry with you if you’ve grabbed your sundae on the go!). Just LOOK at it…
Editor’s Note: The Patriot’s Platter is now available as a lunch, all-you-care-to-enjoy option. Also, the Platter now includes Turkey Breast, Sliced Prime Rib, and Carved Pork Roast once more, as of late October 2016.
Hear Ye, Hear Ye! It’s time to head back to one of our favorite spots — Liberty Tree Tavern!
Ah, how we love thee, Liberty Tree. Located in Magic Kingdom’s Liberty Square, there are plenty of reasons why this park original is still one of our favorites. First of all, although we can embrace and even enjoy change (within moderation 😉 ), Liberty Tree Tavern has literally been around since the beginning. And that makes it a shoe-in for a spot in some of our collective earliest memories. A show of hands out there — how many of you recollect this Colonial-inspired dining room as one of your first Disney meals?
But then, it keeps us coming back as grown-ups for delicious comfort food! The a la carte menu served at lunch features one of DFB’s Favorite Burgers, the Angus Chuck Cheeseburger! And who could possibly resist the Pilgrims Feast at lunch? Because Thanksgiving Dinner served all year ’round is A-OK with me!
Recently, we learned of updates here (what?!?!) to the dinner menu. And while I don’t usually need an excuse to make an advance dining reservation at Liberty Tree, I figured it was the perfect reason to visit.
Join us to see what’s new — and what remains the same — when you dine at Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner!
To step into Liberty Tree Tavern is to step back in time. The restaurant offers seating in six different rooms (none of that modern open floor plan stuff here).
Of course, an argument could be made that the throwback nostalgia here is part Colonial, part 1970s. But you know what? We’re totally fine with it. While some rooms offer paneling a plenty…
Others are awash in white. Still, ample wood accents and parquet floors lend warmth and a feeling of antiquity. [Read more…]
We are back to bring you news of another delicious Disneyland Snack Hack!
A while ago, we shared how you can make a dreamy Dole Whip even more wonderful — just add Tajin Spice from Tropical Imports! But today, we’re going another direction entirely and bringing two of our favorite Disney treats together in the process.
Churros are a must on every Disneyland trip. But there’s nothing better than adding those warm, sweet fried treats to something cold and creamy. And that’s why we love making our very own Churro Sundae. Thanks to our Dining in Disneyland authority Heather for dreaming up this amazing treat! [Read more…]
We love seeing all the beautiful and delicious ways that L’Artisan des Glaces in Epcot’s France Pavilion celebrates the changing seasons!
And starting TODAY, they’re offering another Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich to entice us in for a visit.
Strawberries and Cream Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich
If you don’t call Florida home, then you may not be aware that January ushers in a very important and exciting time: it’s the beginning of Florida Strawberry Season!
You’ll find bumper crops of strawberries in Florida markets this time of year. And if you visit Disney World from January to May, you’ll probably notice lots of strawberries on the menus in your favorite restaurants.
But surely, L’Artisan des Glaces is offering one of the most enticing examples of a strawberry special in all the World — the Strawberries and Cream Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich.
To make the sweet little treat, they layer scoops of the housemade Vanilla Ice Cream and Strawberry Sorbet between layers of pink Strawberry Macarons. Looks awesome, right?
If you love strawberries as much as we do, I’m pretty sure you’re going to love this latest L’Artisan des Glaces seasonal creation.
But hurry — they’re [Read more…]
