I’m so excited that the Epcot Food and Wine Festival is just around the corner! Mark your calendars for August 31-November 13, when we celebrate 75 incredible days of food, wine, and more!
The festival begins earlier than ever before this year, so we’re busy preparing and planning to make the most of our time there. And I suggest you do the same!
While taking in Low Cost Seminars and Demonstrations or splurging on a Special Event or two is super fun, my favorite festival pastime is still strolling along the World Showcase Promenade and taking in both new and familiar eats and drinks at the festival Marketplace Booths.
While we await news of just exactly what that means, and to see what if any new booths are announced, today we’re sharing the five booths you absolutely cannot miss at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival this year!
There’s always something fun and new to look forward to each year. And this year will be no exception. Disney promises 35 booths to celebrate 35 years of Epcot awesomeness. So far, we’re getting a look at two newly returning booths that promise to offer some delicious and exotic fare.
, last seen on the World Showcase Promenade in 2010, returns to the festival this year. Since Spain has a rich culture of beautifully prepared regional foods, we look forward to seeing this menu!
So far, we’ve confirmed a new Spain menu item, Charcuterie in a Cone. What a cool way to have your snack and stroll with it too. 😀 I’m pretty sure this plus a glass of Spanish wine will be very nice on a festival evening.
In addition, there’s a very real chance that we’ll see variations on dishes that have been featured here before. Look for possibilities such as Seared Albacore Tuna with Romesco Sauce, Snapper Escabeche, Spanish Almond Cake, or Crema Catalana, along with some interesting Spanish wines and beer.
We’ve all been there, right? You try to score that coveted Advance Dining Reservation, and it just doesn’t happen. So what should you do? Fortunately, that’s what we’re talking about in our latest DFB Video!
Today, we’re sharing the most popular restaurants in Walt Disney World — and what to do when they’re totally booked!
So — what do you do when you can’t score dinner at Be Our Guest? [Read more…]

We’re back at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ Florida Kitchen for another visit today!
So…I’m noticing we’ve been there kind of a lot. It’s turning into my go-to restaurant — the place that pops to mind if I have a meeting, or a date night, or just get kind of hungry. And, you know…that’s saying something.
From the surroundings, to the service, to the food (and drinks!), this place is…pretty great. They offer fantastic cocktails and a decent counter service menu; and their table service options are some of the best in Walt Disney World.
I was recently in Disney Springs on a family trip, and decided that my traveling companions needed to check out this place for themselves. Wanna come along? I thought you might. 🙂
And oh, hey, it’s Homecomin’ now, y’all. Not Homecoming. To drive home that down-home, rural Florida feeling, Chef Art Smith officially decided to drop the “g”. Just FYI.
We’ve shown you around a couple of times, so I’ll just give you the highlights during this visit. For a full look at the space, inside and out, be sure to check out our very first review of Homecomin’ that shares our first impressions from our first two visits. [Read more…]

Happy Funday Monday! Today, we thought we’d take a closer look at one of our favorite Disney Resort Snacks in our latest DFB Video. So join me as we head over to the shady squares of Port Orleans French Quarter Resort.
And when we go to Port Orleans you know we aren’t leaving without snagging an order or three of their amazing Beignets!
Smothered in powdered sugar, these hot-from-the-fryer, melt-in-your-mouth treats are pretty amazing all by themselves. But at Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory, you can also score them with Dipping Sauces. Choose from Caramel, Raspberry, or Chicory Coffee Ganache. Or don’t choose. Because ALL THE SAUCES. You are likely well aware that BIG CHANGES are underway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
After all, the addition of two whole new lands — Star Wars and Toy Story — is no small undertaking. And the construction has already resulted in the closure of several eateries (including my beloved Writer’s Stop and Starring Rolls) around the park.
But a few classic spots have remained, thankfully, untouched for now. And when it comes to Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant, this spot’s dedicated fans — and there are many — sure hope that “for now” extends to “for always.”
And I can’t argue with that. There’s something so fun (and completely immersive) about sitting in a booth shaped like a vintage car, watching a reel of old movie clips on the big screen under a faux night sky.
But while Sci-Fi wins loads of points for ambiance, some diners find the food to be a little hit or miss. So on this visit, we checked out a mix of some ol’ standbys along with items from the recently revamped menu.
So, let’s drive in, shall we?
Sci-Fi Dine-In is essentially a massive room (make that, soundstage) with high, dark ceilings made to resemble the starry nighttime sky, and row upon row upon row of vintage-style convertibles. That’s the drive-in part of the Dine In, and it’s just about one of the most fun dining settings in Disney World.
You basically sit in the front seat or the back seat, and you have a fairly shallow counter in front of you. That’s your table. Not exactly conversation friendly, but that’s A-OK, because there’s other entertainment to take in.

Editor’s Note on 7/19: The temporary relocation to the Convention Center has been cancelled, and guests with Advanced Dining Reservations should receive an email from Disney stating that they can go to Chef Mickey’s regular location for their meal.
According to wdwmagic.com, Chef Mickey’s will be relocating to the Contemporary Resort’s Convention Center from July 28th through August 13th for unplanned maintenance. (Sounds ominous!)
So, if you have an Advance Dining Reservation for those dates, you can rest assured that you will still be able to enjoy your Breakfast, Brunch, or Dinner buffet with Chef Mickey himself. And he’ll still be joined by Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Pluto.
Additionally, guests who have already scheduled a reservation should be receiving a communication from Disney regarding the relocation.
In fact, you can still (as of this morning) make Advance Dining Reservations for the experience for the dates mentioned above. Fair warning, though… breakfast with Mickey and the gang still remains a hard ticket to get!
We’ll keep you posted on any further details.

A lot of Disney stories start with “Once Upon a Time…”
And here’s one more for you. Once Upon a Time, Disney Food Fans could count on a couple of SUPER yummy pretzels at a few snack stands around Disney World. These were the Sweet Cream Cheese Pretzel and the Jalapeño-Cheese Pretzel; and you could typically find at least one of them at spots like Epcot’s Fife & Drum Tavern, Animal Kingdom’s Eight Spoon Cafe (when it was known as the Beastly Kiosk), and Magic Kingdom’s Lunching Pad.
Then, one by one and spot by spot, they began to disappear until they were (nearly) all gone.
So you can understand how excited we were when the Sweet Cream Cheese Pretzel returned to The Lunching Pad in Tomorrowland last October! Likewise, you may be able to guess how happy we are to tell you that the Jalapeno-Cheese Pretzel is BACK at The Lunching Pad, too!
We’re certain that — like the Sweet Cream Cheese Pretzel — this spicy, savory, cheesy goody will taste every bit as good as always. (You see, we don’t get to make it to Typhoon Lagoon Water Park as often as we’d like, and Lowtide Lou’s is the only place that carries it regularly these days).
It’s good to see you again, Roaring Fork!
Roaring Fork is the primary Counter Service restaurant at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Over the past several months, the entire resort has been undergoing several refurbishments, and these changes have certainly included some of the dining options at the Lodge.
For instance, this past February brought the addition of Geyser Point Bar & Grill — a hybrid outdoor lounge and Counter Service location. The opening of Geyser Point coincided with the temporary closure of Roaring Fork for a renovation of its own.
And even though Geyser Point has been a terrific addition to Wilderness Lodge, we have missed Roaring Fork. As home to everything from Specialty Waffles in the morning to some of our favorite cupcakes anywhere — all served up in the Lodge’s uniquely beautiful rustic setting — Roaring Fork has long held a special place in our hearts. And we know we’re not the only ones who feel that way.
So, I’m sure some of you are as anxious as I am to see what’s new and what’s remained the same (did the Waffles make the cut?!?) at Roaring Fork. Let’s not waste any more time checking it out!
Before the refurbishment, there were a few words you could always use to describe Roaring Fork. Among them were “rustic” and even “cozy.” [Read more…]
