Review: Dinner at ‘Ohana in Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
We’re at ‘Ohana!! And ‘Ohana means FAMILY.
From the moment you enter ‘Ohana, you’re informed (or reminded, for returning guests) of the meaning of the restaurant’s name. This family-friendly spot is perched atop the Great Ceremonial House at the Polynesian Village Resort, and it’s become a must-dine for guests of all ages — including Disney World first timers!
The warmth of the atmosphere at ‘Ohana really makes you feel like you’re part of a massive extended family (where your server is your cousin), and that’s a really good thing.
‘Ohana has two dining experiences. Breakfast features characters with Lilo, Stitch, Pluto, and the Main Mouse himself. Dinner, on the other hand, is not a character meal, but still includes entertainment (which I’ll show you in this post). In either case, meals are all-you-care-to-enjoy. And while I really do love breakfast here, my most recent visit was for dinner.
You are very welcome here at ‘Ohana! [Read more…]
New! Chocolate Caramel Swirl at Karamell-Küche in Epcot’s Germany
has been churning out ooey, gooey caramel treats in Epcot’s Germany Pavilion since it opened nearly SEVEN years ago.
(I started this blog just over 8 years ago, by the way. Time sure flies when you’re eating your way around Walt Disney World!)
Anyway, it’s all in the name: it’s the Caramel Kitchen, brought to us by Werther’s Caramel. It’s for those of us — and there are those of us 😉 — who adore all things caramel maaaaybe even a bit more than the other candy darling: CHOCOLATE.
Now, that’s not to say that Karamell-Küche doesn’t have a few things in that golden bakery case for chocoholics. Not at all. You’ll find chocolate poured over a Caramel Apple, covering a caramel square, or topping Mickey’s ears on a Krispie Treat.
And now there’s one more that the chocolate lovers — and caramel lovers, of course! — can add to the list to try.
It’s the new Chocolate Caramel Swirl.
Everything you need to know is found in the first glance: it’s a thick cut swirl of chocolate and caramel, finished with chocolate sprinkles surrounding the outer layer. Well, there is one more thing you’d probably like to know: the Chocolate Caramel Swirl comes in at $4.49 or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit. [Read more…]
News and Review: New Matterhorn Macaroon Donut at Disneyland!
Just when you thought the Matterhorn Macaroon couldn’t get any cooler (Get it? There’s faux snow on top!), it did. Because donut.
And thanks to our Disneyland go-to gal Heather Sievers (aka @DiningInDisney), we’ve got the scoop on this massive treat. The Matterhorn Macaroon Donut is available at the coffee cart in the hub near the entrance to Fantasy Faire. So it’s super convenient to grab along with your morning java (plus they have a bevy of yummy donuts all the time).
But how, you may ask, did the kooky sweet-treat-designers craft a Matterhorn Macaroon Donut?
Review: Great (And Not So Great) Treats At Epcot’s Karamell-Küche!
Lately there has been no shortage of incredible food at Walt Disney World’s Epcot.
But even with all the stellar food at the International Festival of the Arts, I still craved some of my old favorites from everyone’s go-to caramel spot: Karamell-Küche.
Karamell-Küche has become a perennial favorite since its debut in 2010. And why not? It’s a charming stop in World Showcase’s Germany pavilion, and it serves some of the most crave-able sweets in the World. We love the Caramel Corn (and we love watching it be made), but who can resist their unassuming-but-oh-so-amazing Caramel Apple Cookie? We can’t!
And the Caramel Bacon Square is just crazy enough to work! Plus I can always rely on the Sea Salt Chocolate-Covered Caramel to satisfy my sweet/salty tooth (it’s been my on my must-eat list for, like, seven years, y’all!). Just about anything in their shiny glass display cases is delicious. (Well…maybe not the Caramel-Topped Chocolate Brownie. Too dry. Too boring. Too much else to capture my taste buds and attention.)
The menu is pretty self-explanatory, and since the goodies are all on display, you can study your options before making a selection.
And there are so, so many things from which to choose! You will have trouble making a decision, we promise. [Read more…]
New Caramel Snacks at Epcot’s Karamell-Küche
You waited all year for pumpkin spice, and Karamell-Küche in Epcot’s Germany Pavilion does not want you to be disappointed!
Several new seasonal treats await at this tiny sweets shop in the World Showcase. Karamell-Küche is one of the best places to satisfy your sweet tooth, which makes sense considering the name translates to “caramel kitchen” in English!
And who doesn’t think a caramel kitchen is a good idea?
When you walk in, you’ll see the treats in all of their sugary glory behind the glass and probably some cast members working on a new batch, too. They have caramel-dipped everything: apples, strawberries, cupcakes, cookies, and a DFB favorite, the caramel-covered popcorn.
It’s Werther’s caramel central.
Epcot Flower and Garden Recipe: Buttermilk Chocolate Cake with Caramel Sauce and Spiced Pecans
We’re back with another delicious taste from the 2016 Epcot Flower and Garden Festival!
With all that’s happening this Spring at Disney, you may have forgotten that the Festival is still going strong! Yep — there’s still time to see all of the beautiful flowers and informative exhibits in person. But even better — you can still get out there and experience the Outdoor Kitchens! [Read more…]
Dining in Disneyland: The Candy Cane Marshmallow Wand
Lately I’ve been a big fan of Disney Marshmallow Wands. Fresh marshmallows dipped in gooey caramel, covered with chocolate then topped with various items: YUM!
In the past we’ve seen lots of fun marshmallow wands. Everything from traditional sprinkles, to Reese’s Pieces, s’mores, character themed, and more. The Candy Cane Marshmallow Wand is currently here for the season, and it’s wonderful! I recently picked one up to enjoy at home and boy, am I glad I did.
The marshmallow is dipped in caramel then dark chocolate….
Review: Caramel Sticks at Disneyland’s Candy Palace
So, last month I headed out west for the 24-Hour Kickoff of the Disneyland Resort Diamond Anniversary Celebration …and pretty much ate my way through Disneyland in three days. SO, I have LOTS to share with you here on the blog of my epic Diamond eating adventure.
But, today I’m going to highlight one of the best things I ate, hands down, during those three days. And that’s saying something, because I had a Bacon Mac & Cheese Cone, brunch at Club 33, all five Jungle Skewers at the Bengal Barbecue and so much more.
Are you ready? Then allow me to set the scene…you wander into the Candy Palace to check the candy cases to see what’s new…
And here they are… [Read more…]
Review: Caramel and Pecan Treats at Karamell-Küche in Epcot’s Germany
What’s a walk around World Showcase these days without stopping in Germany’s Karamell-Küche?
After all, it’s the one place where every single item is built around the same awesome ingredient: caramel. Werther’s Caramel, to be specific.
In fact, you can even take a moment or two to check out the wall to your left upon entering the Caramel Kitchen (once you’re past the window, that is). It’s a mural depicting the timeline of the company, which had its start in the German village of Werther. It’s quite the history lesson.
Of course, you probably won’t.
Because if you’re anything like me, you’re going to be entirely distracted by all the choices held inside the bakery case (not to mention the buttery fragrance of caramel wafting through the air)!
That bakery case full of caramel goodness is one reason I don’t mind the typically long lines here. It gives me more time to peek over shoulders and heads in front of me to decide what I want. It takes some time! But having sampled just about everything in that case (and some more than a few times — I’m lookin’ at you, Chewy Caramel Shortbread Bar), I decided to go with something I hadn’t tried before.
Or two things, because… well, do you really need a reason why here ;)?
Anyway, one item I hadn’t chosen previously was the Caramel Cluster Milk Chocolate Pecan; which, I’m guessing, should probably be called the Milk Chocolate Pecan Caramel Cluster…but that’s just splitting hairs.
At first glance, you think you have it pretty much figured out: a dollop of hardened milk chocolate over a layer of caramel covering the pecans. Not that that’s necessarily a bad thing…
And just so can have one more look at [Read more…]
