Universal Orlando Resort is getting ready to open its latest park, Epic Universe and the whole theme park-going world is going crazy with anticipation (us included). While Disney has plans for its own expansion, is it possible The Walt Disney Company is helping Universal build Epic Universe? Maybe.

We’ve recently learned even more about Disney’s BIG plans for its streaming services.

First, the company has teamed up with Warner Bros. Discovery to bring ESPN, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery sports coverage into one streaming service. And although Disney+ seems to have lost some subscribers, its average monthly revenue per paid subscriber increased by 9% domestically. Overall, the company seems to be very confident about one of its major goals (and CEO Bob Iger’s #1 priority): to have streaming become profitable in 2024 (yep, this year).
For a while now, we’ve been waiting for Disney to make a big business move.
ESPN Wide World of Sports
Disney’s had some problems with streaming over the past few years, but particularly with ESPN+. The service hasn’t been as successful as it could be, even though there’s a high demand for sports entertainment. But now, Disney finally seems to have the solution — and it involves some other major players.
If streaming services are starting to feel exactly like cable used to back in the day to you, you’re not alone.
Disney+ Hulu bundle
Between formerly ad-free services becoming full of ads and efforts to put an end to password sharing, it’s becoming increasingly complicated to be a consumer of the latest and greatest content (champagne problems, am I right?). And, if you’re a Hulu subscriber, we’ve got an update you might want to know about.
We’ve seen Disney cancel several shows recently, including one long-running TV series on ABC. However, it looks like it’s not all bad news for Disney’s entertainment division!

However, since the COVID-19 pandemic launched the world into a time of uncertainty — and, in many cases, loss — Disney has been in the headlines a bit more frequently as they continue to branch in new directions, expand their parks, and attempt to make profit again. At the start of the pandemic, the company was headed by Bob Chapek, who was replaced in 2022 by the current (and former) CEO — Bob Iger. Going into 2024, four years after pandemic-related closures, Iger has some BIG changes to make to keep the company headed in the right direction.
