I’ve been reporting on Disney World’s food for years and a visitor to its parks and restaurants even longer, and I’ve seen some downright bizarre food items. NEWS: Lightning Strikes Cinderella Castle, Shocking Disney World Guests

Lightning struck Cinderella Castle at approximately 6:01 PM on August 5th, sending a loud boom resonating through Magic Kingdom.

The noise shocked Disney World guests, and sent a few scattering. People reported seeing the lightning bolt hit the highest spire of the castle and then seemingly “radiate” down to other spires before dissapating.

UPDATE: Here’s the New Rule for Rope Dropping in EPCOT

The return of an old favorite has led to a new rope drop rule at EPCOT.

In July of 2025, EPCOT’s Test Track reopened after a refurbishment that lasted over a year. The new version of the attraction, dubbed Test Track 3.0 by fans – a nod to the original late 1990s original and the 2010s refurbished version of the attraction that preceded it – the “new” Test Track has six new “scenes” celebrating vehicles and their makers.
