We got some HUGE Disney announcements recently.
At Disney’s Shareholders Meeting, we learned that Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and La Crêperie would BOTH be opening in EPCOT’s newly expanded France Pavilion on October 1st, 2021. And if ya missed it, we also got some important updates on Disneyland’s reopening and the Disney Cruise Line. But let’s rewind for a sec and talk about those RIDES!
You may have been so excited to finally get these opening dates that you temporarily forgot about all the OTHER Disney World projects. What’s goin’ on with TRON: Lightcycle Run, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and more? Well, Disney kinda just brushed over them yesterday. So we’re here instead to bring you ALL the latest updates on the attractions Disney didn’t talk about. Let’s get started!
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is going to be a seriously innovative new coaster in EPCOT. It will be one of the longest indoor coasters ever built and will feature the first-ever “reverse launch into space.” We’re not even totally sure what that means, but it sounds epic!
We’ve already gotten a sneak peek at the ride vehicles (and even a look INSIDE the building), but we know what you’re wondering: WHEN will this actually open? Well, Disney hasn’t announced an opening date yet, but it’s projected to open ahead of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary — which is October 1st, 2021! Of course, this could change, so we will keep you posted.
We’ve been keeping a close eye on the construction, and we’ll keep you posted with any more updates. And of course, we’ll be sure to let you know when an opening date is revealed!

Harmonious
It seems like there’s always more progress on the Harmonious construction over at EPCOT! This nighttime spectacular will have TONS of special effects: we’re talking fireworks, custom-built LED panels, choreographed moving fountains, lasers, and more. During the day, all those set pieces will form stunning fountains! And the whole show will be to the tune of reimagined Disney classics.
We recently saw fireworks testing in EPCOT, and we’re itching for this show’s debut. We also saw water testing recently! But despite all the progress, Disney still hasn’t announced an opening date.

Space 220
Disney, WHAT is going on with Space 220? The restaurant was supposed to open near Mission: SPACE wayyy back in 2019, but troubles have plagued it. The opening was shifted to February 2020…and then delayed yet again.
So what’s the deal now? Well, we’ve seen LOTS of progress. The windows in the building were on, and we even spotted some job postings! But Disney has yet to announce an opening date, so we’ll keep waiting for this dining adventure.

TRON: Lightcycle Run
We’ve been waiting on TRON: Lightcycle Run for a while, too! As in, ever since it was announced in 2017. The ride was supposed to open in time for Disney World’s 50th anniversary…are we sensing a trend here? Because despite construction progress, that timeframe was delayed.
The ride will be like the version that already exists in Shanghai Disneyland, and we’re pumped to hop aboard those two-wheeled Lightcycles! But according to USA Today, TRON “isn’t expected to open during the park’s 50th birthday year.”
Guess we’ve got a while to wait on this one! We’ll keep you posted as we receive more updates.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser
The much-awaited Star Wars hotel is an immersive 2-day experience that was supposed to debut in 2021 (shocker, right?). But construction was delayed, and now the opening timeline is up in the air.
Progress is continuing, though — we’ve seen job postings here, too, as well as a sneak peek into the hotel rooms! When the hotel opens, guests will be able to meet Star Wars characters, defend the ship, and even learn how to wield a lightsaber. Sounds like a pretty epic Star Wars adventure!
It’s also worth noting that while there’s no OFFICIAL opening date, the Disney website still states it will open in 2021.
Sounds kinda promising, right?!

Roundup Rodeo BBQ
In 2019, we got EXCITED because Disney announced a Toy Story-themed table service restaurant was coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios! In Roundup Rodeo BBQ, guests will dine among blocks, lights, and cardboard cutouts in a rodeo-style atmosphere!
The restaurant was due to open sometime in 2020. Well, it’s 2021 now, and we STILL don’t have an opening date! In fact, Disney’s been pretty quiet on this one. We’re really hopin’ this sit-down restaurant is on its way soon — we really need it in this area of the park! We’ll keep you posted as we get more updates.

Moana: Journey of Water
So, we’re hoping for more details on this project because there haven’t been many. The lush exploration trail called Moana: Journey of Water was supposed to open in EPCOT in 2021. It was one of the key components of EPCOT’s reimagining!
But the walkthrough attraction is assumed to be delayed. Construction may be happening, but we haven’t seen it with our own eyes yet. We’ll keep an eye out and let you know if we do!

We’re super excited for everything that IS coming to the parks this year…but Disney, we’ve still got lots of questions! We’ll be watching for more news on any of these attractions and keep you posted! Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney news and updates.

Everything I’ve seen about Cosmic Rewind has it projected for Summer to Fall 2022, AFTER Tron lightcycles. I hope your projection is right, but I’m doubting it.
