Candlelight Processional returned this year, and various hotels and restaurants reopened. We’ve also heard a bit about some of the returning entertainment that will be available next year. But, now we’ve got more Disneyland news!
Earlier today, Disney shared details about 6 different entertainment options that will be returning to Disneyland in 2022. Let’s go through them here:
First up, an expanded version of “Celebrate Gospel!” will be coming to Disneyland park in February of 2022. This musical celebration will feature live choir performances, each of which will share their own distinctive gospel music style and inspiration.
“Celebrate Gospel!” will be moving to Fantasyland Theater at Disneyland park, and will be available on select days in February of 2022.
Tale of the Lion King
Next up, we have the return of “Tale of the Lion King.” This show will return in the spring of 2022* and will be available at the Fantasyland Theater at Disneyland park.
*EDITOR’S UPDATE: Disney has announced that Tale of the Lion King will return on May 28, 2022!
“Tale of the Lion King” is “an imaginative adaptation of Disney’s ‘The Lion King.'” It originally debuted in 2019 at Disney California Adventure park. During the show, the story of The Lion King is portrayed by the Storytellers of the Pride Lands, “a troupe of traveling performers.”
Guests will get to enjoy the story-theater style along with live music and dance.
Main Street Electrical Parade
Disney had teased the potential return of the Main Street Electrical parade in a TikTok shared earlier this year, but now it’s official! The Main Street Electrical Parade will be making its return to Disneyland Park on April 22, 2022, just in time to celebrate the parade’s 50th anniversary.
During the parade, fans will get to see lots of their favorite floats and characters including Elliot the Dragon and floats themed to Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, and Peter Pan. AND, since the parade will be celebrating its 50th anniversary, in honor of the milestone, exciting new elements will be introduced to the parade. These will include an all-new, enchanted grand finale!
World of Color
Finally, Disney has also announced that the “Disneyland Forever” nighttime spectacular will be returning in 2022 to Disneyland park!
During this show, guests get to see projections on Main Street, U.S.A. and other spots around the park. Plus, you’ll get to see fireworks, special effects, and more, all while singing and dancing along to classic Disney songs and 2 original songs — “Live the Magic” and “Kiss Goodnight,” which were written by Disney Legend Richard Sherman.
When the Disneyland Forever fireworks spectacular comes back on April 22nd, it will run weekends only (Friday through Sunday). Mickey’s Mix Magic fireworks will happen during the week (Monday through Thursday) until late spring. After that, the Disneyland Forever fireworks will then run nightly in the summer.
As always, we’ll be on the lookout for any more information and we’ll be sure to share ALL the latest updates with you!
