Happy Halloween, everyone!
It’s time to head to the west coast and celebrate Halloween at Disneyland Resort! Disney World kicked off its Halloween festivities last month with Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, but now, it’s time to head to Disney California Adventure park for Oogie Boogie Bash. We’re reporting live from the very first night of the celebration, so follow along with us as we update this post with all of the spooky details!
Before we get started, let’s go over some of the basics: Oogie Boogie Bash is a separately-ticketed event that takes place at Disney California Adventure park. Oogie Boogie Bash will be held on 23 select nights from September 6th to October 31st with ticket prices starting at $129. The event officially takes place from 6PM-11PM, but guests who have tickets to the event can get into Disney California Adventure park (DCA) beginning at 3PM. That gives you an extra three hours at DCA before the event even gets started!
Getting Started
Let’s go into the party!
We’re HERE in Disney California Adventure to bring you ALL THINGS Oogie Boogie Bash tonight! 💚 Ask us your questions throughout the night! pic.twitter.com/6onYd5g8Ii

When you get to Disney California Adventure park for the bash, you’ll need to check in at the main entrance. As a reminder, check-in begins at 3PM and the park closes at 6PM.
If you’re already in the park, you can check in over near Avengers Campus and Cars Land.
When you check in, you will receive a wristband that signals that you have a ticket for Oogie Boogie Bash.
The other side of the wristband has the date of the party on it.
You have to have a wristband in order to stay in the park!
The Map
At check-in, you’ll be given the official Oogie Boogie Bash map.
This map has everything you need to know about the event from the rides and attractions, to merchandise locations, dining locations, and more.
Inside, you’ll find an actual map of the park with a bunch of markers for things like the treat trails and character meet and greets.
Here’s a closer look!
Just a peek at tonight’s map! #oogieboogiebash pic.twitter.com/eFXsKtjENV

There is also info about using PhotoPass at the event, transportation, and a COVID-19 warning.
This will be a great reference for you during the party!
Crowds
Every single night of Oogie Boogie Bash is sold out, so we were expecting to see some crowds! We got into the park before the party started, and there were definitely a lot of people out and about.
Keep in mind that this is a mix of people here for the party and regular day guests, so we might see crowds go down a bit once the party starts.
Once the party started, we noticed a LOT of people around the areas where you get in line to meet characters in the park, like over near Grizzly Peak.
And, as the night continues, we’ve seen a lot of long lines to meet characters!
The line to meet the Sanderson Sisters was about an HOUR long!
The Sanderson Sisters are here and we’re waiting in line to meet them! Drop your favorite Hocus Pocus quotes below! pic.twitter.com/pEciIa9oCF

Costumes
Anyone can wear a costume to Oogie Boogie Bash, but there are some costume guidelines that all guests need to follow in order to be allowed into the park. You can check out the costume guidelines for Oogie Boogie Bash on the Disneyland website. We saw a lot of guests wearing some AWESOME costumes! Check out Wanda, AKA Scarlet Witch.
That wasn’t the only Marvel costume we saw! We also ran into Loki.
And, we found some pirates!
You can take a look at more of the fun costumes we’ve seen at the event right here!

Decorations
The front entrance of Disney California Adventure has a GIANT Oogie Boogie decoration at the top!
During the event, you can see all of the same Halloween decorations that are available during the day. There are decorations in Cars Land…
Do you see that spooky spider car?!
The cars even have costumes on!
And, there are some spooky sights to see if you look up!
We noticed that there are some big decorations with some Disney villains over near Redwood Creek Challenge Trail! This is where Villains Grove is for the party.
At night, it gets pretty spooky!
Over at Carthay Circle, you can see some fun lights and projections.
We headed back over to Cars Land at night because we wanted to see everything lit up, and let’s just say, we were NOT disappointed!
We also saw this clown costume…
…a pirate…
…and this sugar skull!
Cars Land is SUPER spooky at night, and it’s honestly awesome.
Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters even gets a Halloween makeover!
The vibes are immaculate.
You gotta stop in here to experience all of the spookiness for yourself! 🎃
Trick-or-Treating
Trick-or-Treating is included with your event ticket and you can find the trick-or-treat trails in your event map. At the front of the park, you can find your complimentary treat bag at stations with Cast Members!
This year’s bags have an advertisement for Disney’s upcoming Hocus Pocus 2 movie (coming out on September 30th!) on one side…
…and a Hallowstream advertisement for Disney+ on the other side!
There is also a Happy Halloween Mickey pumpkin on the side!
Make sure you grab one so you can fill it up with all of that complimentary CANDY!
With our bag, we also got a little slip of paper that you can scan to listen to Disney’s Halloween playlist.
The other side has some info from shopDisney.
When you’re at a Treat Trail, you’ll be able to pick up some treats (duh!) like a bunch of these Mars Wrigley candies!
There are also options that are more like snacks, like these cranberries…
…and these Goldfish graham crackers.
Let’s take a look at the characters you can meet on the Treat Trails!
Characters & Treat Trails
There are a bunch of exclusive characters that you can see during Oogie Boogie Bash! Some of them are on Treat Trails and others are part of meet and greets. The first character we went to see was Bruno, from Disney’s Encanto. This is the first time Bruno has appeared in a Disney Park! Everyone was obviously very excited, because the line was LONGGG!

Will you be attending Oogie Boogie Bash this year? Let us know in the comments!
Looks like fun! I love the addition of Ernesto, his look is great. I am also SO happy to see Madam Mim, it’s awesome that they brought back a classic like her. However, I am a little disappointed to see how crowded it is. The party should be a more intimate experience considering it is so expensive for a ticket and very short at only five hours long (not including early park entry). When the party is only five hours long, you should not have to spend an entire hour to meet one character. Same goes for MNSSHP in FL – I used to love this party but stopped going because the prices shot up and so did the crowds.
