REVIEW: Compound Crustacean Shrimp Salad at Pym Test Kitchen in Disneyland

Besides dishes that take inspiration from the Ant-Man films and play with size, you can also dine on eccentric eats you won’t find anywhere else in Disneyland. Tried their whole menu? It’s time to head back because they just added a new dish!

We made our way over to the Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure to try out the new menu item. The Compound Crustacean is a shrimp salad comprised of iceberg and leaf lettuce, couscous, quinoa, tomatoes, olives, feta, and red pepper. It’s then finished off with a generous drizzling of citrus vinaigrette. This dish sounds like a fresh salad, with a combination of veggies, grains, and seafood. But did it measure up?

The dish itself is colorful, although if you don’t like receiving shrimp with the head still on, consider yourself forewarned! Once we dug in, we enjoyed the combination of the tart dressing with the crisp and fresh flavor of the produce. There was also a little added spice with the red pepper that wasn’t overpowering.

Would you try this out?

The shrimp itself was mild and almost buttery. It paired very nicely with the citrus flavor in the vinaigrette. We think that even those who usually aren’t fans of seafood would still enjoy this salad; we didn’t taste any sort of fishiness that you sometimes get with seafood dishes.

Lots of ingredients

Honestly, we had no complaints! You could tell the ingredients were fresh, and the combination of flavors was very tasty. Whether you’re a pescatarian, looking for something healthy, or just want to have something more unique than your standard park fare, we recommend heading over to Pym’s for this salad!
