When is the BEST time to go to Disney World?!
Well, that answer totally depends on YOU. Do you want to avoid crowds at all costs? Don’t visit during summer or spring break. Do you want to be in the crowds on the opening day of TRON Lightcycle / Run? Prepare for busy parks. If you are someone who is seeking lower crowds and wait times on a Disney World trip, right now might be the best time to visit Disney World!
Although we’ve seen wait times spike recently, the are on a downhill slide right now! The wait times have significantly dropped since last week and many rides have hit manageable average wait times. That being said, there are still the few popular rides that you may want to buy Individual Lightning Lanes for.
Genie+ is Disney’s paid skip-the-line system that allows you to book a time to use the Lightning Lane for a faster wait time. At one popular attraction in each park, you can purchase an Individual Lightning Lane to bypass the line at that specific ride. The price varies depending on the day, but these are the rides where this option is available:
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT
- Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Flight of Passage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Take a look at what the wait times were like in Disney World this week!
Magic Kingdom
Starting over in Magic Kingdom, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train had the longest average wait time with 68 minutes. Last week the average wait time was 94 minutes, so this wait time has decreased BIG TIME this week.
Next, Peter Pan’s Flight averaged 62 minutes, Jungle Cruise averaged 48 minutes, Space Mountain averaged 40 minutes. After that, average wait times had Haunted Mansion at 35 minutes, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at 30 minutes, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at 28 minutes, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh at 29 minutes, Astro Orbiter at 27 minutes, and Pirates of the Caribbean at 25 minutes.
After that, Enchanted Tales with Belle averaged 24 minutes, “it’s a small world” averaged 22 minutes, The Barnstormer featuring the Great Goofini averaged 15 minutes, Magic Carpets of Aladdin and Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid averaged 19 minutes, and Dumbo the Flying Elephant and Tomorrowland Speedway averaged 15 minutes.
Next, Mickey’s PhilharMagic averaged 14 minutes, Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover averaged 12 minutes, Mad Tea Party averaged 9 minutes, and Prince Charming Regal Carrousel averaged 9 minutes. The Enchanted Tiki Room, Carousel of Progress, the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, and the Liberty Square Riverboat all averaged 5 minutes.
The Hall of Presidents, Country Bear Jamboree, and Tom Sawyer Island averaged no wait.
THIS Is the Best Day of the Week To Visit Magic Kingdom
EPCOT
Heading over to EPCOT, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure no longer has the longest average wait time in the park with 61 minutes — this is a MAJOR decrease compared to last week’s average of 100 minutes. Frozen Ever After now has the longest average wait time of 62 minutes.
Next up is Test Track at 48 minutes, Soarin’ at 27 minutes, Mission: SPACE at 13 minutes, Turtle Talk with Crush at 13 minutes, and Spaceship Earth at 11 minutes.
Then, there is the Gran Fiesta Tour and The Seas with Nemo and Friends at 9 minutes, and Living with the Land and Journey into Imagination at 7 minutes.
Awesome Planet, Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along, Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival, Impressions de France, and Reflections of China had no wait times this week.

Hollywood Studios
Now that we’re done with EPCOT, we’re heading to Disney’s Hollywood Studios where Slinky Dog Dash was the highest with an average wait time of 83 minutes. Rise of the Resistance is not far behind with 80 minutes. Just last week, the average wait time for Rise of the Resistance was 152 minutes, so this is another huge decrease!
Other wait times in the park include Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at 58 minutes, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at 48 minutes, Tower of Terror at 43 minutes, and Toy Story Mania at 51 minutes.
After that, Alien Swirling Saucers averaged 29 minutes, Walt Disney Presents averaged 18 minutes, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue averaged 14 minutes, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy averaged 14 minutes, and Muppet*Vision 3D averaged 10 minutes.

Animal Kingdom
And last but not least, let’s talk about Animal Kingdom! Avatar Flight of Passage had one of the longest average wait time in all of Disney World this week with 79 minutes. This means the time went down significantly from last week.
Following that, Na’vi River Journey at 57 minutes, Kilimanjaro Safaris at 38 minutes, Expedition Everest at 20 minutes, and DINOSAUR at 19 minutes.
It’s Tough to Be a Bug averaged 10 minutes and Triceratop Spin averaged 8 minutes. Both The Boneyard and Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail averaged no wait time. Kali River Rapids closed for refurbishment on January 9th.

Overall, it is up to you and your group to create a game plan. If you want to do as many rides as possible, Genie+ may be a necessity for you. Be sure to purchase Genie+ earlier in the day because we’ve seen the service sell out before. If you just want to relax and get on a few rides, you don’t need to worry about maximizing Genie+.
