We found something really cool at Epcot that you may need to have! You might normally pass by this beer stein, but if you take a second look, you’ll notice the top is pretty amazing… .
First Look and Review: Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza in Disney Springs
In Disney Springs and in need of some pizza STAT?
Then look no further than the brand new Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza! (OK, anyone else wondering why there’s an apostrophe in “Fire’d”? Isn’t the apostrophe supposed to stand in for a letter? What letter is missing here? Isn’t Fast Fired OK? But I digress.)
You may already be familiar with Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza if you live near one of its existing locations in the United Sates or Canada.
If not, your next trip to Disney Springs may offer you your first opportunity to try a Blaze artisanal pizza pie fired up in an open-flame oven in 180 seconds (that’s the FAST part!).
Blaze joins the ranks of spots like D-Luxe Burger, Earl of Sandwich, and Cookes of Dublin as another Counter Service option for Disney World’s shopping and dining district.
Here we go!

Review and Photo Tour: The New Flying Fish at Disney World’s BoardWalk
We have a real treat for you as we head into the newly refurbished Flying Fish for our very first visit to this beloved spot!
More than most, Flying Fish has had a passionate fan base. And it’s funny, because at the same time, it tends to fly a bit under the radar. Even prior to its recent closure for refurbishment, you were much more likely to get a last minute advance dining reservation here than at some other signature spots, like California Grill. (Maybe that’s why the locals love it so much — they’re not fighting the tourists for a table.)
But we heard from you in large numbers during the reno. Passionate Fish fans continually asked us two questions: when will Flying Fish reopen? And will our favorite dishes (so many!) return?
Opening day turned out to be last week. As for the answer to the other question, you’ll have to read on to find out.
Join me as we have a look around the completely transformed Flying Fish, and then stick around to see all the details on the dishes that we enjoyed. Let’s go!
Atmosphere
While I love the charm and allure of the BoardWalk as night falls, we made our ADR early so that we could take full advantage of the good light for photos. And if you love the nostalgia of the super cool neon sign over the Flying Fish — good news. It remains nearly unchanged.
Super fans will quickly note one major difference. With the refurbishment, the Flying Fish underwent a slight change to its name. Previously, it was known as Flying Fish Cafe. Now it’s just Flying Fish, and the sign has been updated to reflect that — complete with extra fish added. As you can see from the above photo, the front doors have been updated slightly as well. The window muntins are now diagonal and echo some of the same motifs that you’ll see inside. [Read more…]
New: Hard Root Beer Float at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
We’ve got a new refreshment for you to try in Hollywood Studios at Hollywood Scoops!
Hard root beer floats have been popping up EVERYWHERE recently around the World – including Beach Club’s Beaches and Cream and Epcot’s Fife and Drum, not to mention the upcoming Epcot Food and Wine Festival!
Now, Hollywood Studios is joining in on the fizzy fun! Hollywood Scoops, if you’re not familiar, is a tiny, early 1900s style house on Hollywood Boulevard just before Tower of Terror and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. When you get tired of all those Mickey Premium Bars (HA!), Hollywood Scoops is known for serving hand-scooped ice cream sundaes and other chilly treats.
The line gets pretty long when it’s hot out, and after adding this delicious treat, we wouldn’t be surprised if it gets longer!
Let’s see that float! [Read more…]
News! Sunshine Day Cafe, Fairfax Fare One-Pound Baked Potato, and PizzeRizzo Updates in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Helloooooo
from Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World! We’re paying a visit to a few Counter Service locations to check out some recent developments, starting with a couple of restaurants that call Sunset Boulevard home.
New! Sunshine Day Cafe
This includes the brand new Sunshine Day Cafe — the newest neighbor to spots like Rosie’s All-American Cafe, Catalina Eddie’s, and Hollywood Scoops in Sunset Ranch Market!
Sunshine Day Cafe has taken over the location that was previously known as Toluca Legs Turkey Co. And along with the new name comes a new menu… eventually, that is, as it hasn’t been posted yet. 😉 [Read more…]
Review: Chef Art Smith’s Homecoming Florida Kitchen and Southern Shine at Disney Springs
I hope that you’re sitting down.
Because we have a ton of pictures and details to share with you about Chef Art Smith’s Homecoming Florida Kitchen and Southern Shine!
The restaurant opened with fanfare and plenty of rave reviews. And we were right there with you as we shared a first look!
If you can believe it, we’ve been back to Homecoming Florida Kitchen (hereafter shortened to HFK to save my fingers extra typing) again since opening day. As a result, we have lots of variety to share with you about this special spot.
This is a place that beckons you to slow down and sit a spell. So to begin, let’s take a nice, leisurely look around.
Atmosphere
You’ll find HFK right in the heart of Disney Springs, where the Town Center and The Landing come together.
While the outside may look a little Plain Jane at first inspection, you may form a different opinion after your initial look. Tons of windows, shaded in part by the metal hip roof that overhangs them, is reminiscent of the Florida Vernacular style of architecture. I love that you don’t find a single ounce of faux stucco here — the building choice of most Florida homebuilders these days. [Read more…]
Review: New Items at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland
Who’s up for a little retro-futuristic dining at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe?
Cosmic Ray’s remains your best Magic Kingdom bet for Counter Service staples like Bacon Cheeseburgers and Chicken Breast Nuggets (especially since the Mexican fare menu revamp at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe that took place last fall). It’s your basic go-to when you’re looking for a menu that’s bound to have something that will appeal to just about everyone in your traveling party.
Even so, that doesn’t mean Cosmic Ray’s can’t change things up from time to time, as evidenced by a few new menu items we spotted recently and thought we’d check out with our review today.
And even if they didn’t alter their menu as extensively as the nearby Tomorrowland Terrace recently did, we’ll take pretty much any excuse to pay a visit to our old pal, Sonny Eclipse!
Now that we’ve said “Hello” to Sonny, let’s check out what else is happening at the Starlight Cafe… [Read more…]
Review: New Menu Items at Captain Cook’s in Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Aloha, cousins! Welcome to Captain Cook’s at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort!
The Polynesian is known for its delicious food, fireworks views and impeccable theming. Captain Cook’s is a lesser-known, tropical counter-service restaurant just a happy stop away from the Magic Kingdom, and it’s home to a few favorites including a budget-friendly version of Kona Cafe’s Tonga Toast! Captain Cook’s is the sole counter service at the Poly, and it’s chock full of tasty treats.
Since its renovation in 2014, the famed Pineapple Dole Whip moved outside to the Pineapple Lanai and the restaurant got a refresh of the menu as well. Now, we’re seeing even more new items on the Captain Cook’s docket!
First Look AND Review! The New AbracadaBar on Disney World’s Boardwalk
Ladies and Gentlemen! Join me in saying the Magic Word…
And, NO, it’s not “Abracadabra.” It’s “AbracadaBAR,” the newest, most magical-est lounge in all of Disney World!
Located on Disney World’s Boardwalk, you’ll find that AbracadaBar has magically appeared in the space formerly occupied by Seashore Sweets right in between the Flying Fish — which is currently closed for refurbishment — and Trattoria al Forno. PRESTO!!
We are BEYOND excited to say that AbracadaBar is no longer an illusion… it’s HERE, and its presence recalls a night over 70 years ago when something strange took place at this very lounge.
Something very unusual, indeed… [Read more…]
Review: Coca-Cola Store Rooftop Beverage Bar Adult Drink Menu
We’re back at the new Coca-Cola Store Orlando in Disney Springs to check out some new sips… already!
You see, the Coca-Cola Store Orlando just opened earlier this month, bringing not only TONS of merchandise dedicated to the iconic beverage, but also a brand new sipping experience at the Rooftop Beverage Bar — one of the coolest new spots to take in the views of Disney Springs.
In the opening days, however, only the all-day menu was available. So, we were able to take in the new International Tray, which gives guests the chance to sample sixteen beverages from all over the world, and the Float Tray featuring mini Ice Cream Floats with eight different Coca-Cola brand soda flavors. (You can take a tour of the full location here.)
In the weeks since, they’ve debuted their Adult Beverage menu. That’s right — beginning at 3:00 pm daily, a list of drinks is available for guests 21 and over (though you will also find a few Mocktails, too!). It features a combination of classic cocktails along with a few twists. [Read more…]
