Disneyland has remained closed since March and after significant back and forth between Disney, other local theme parks, and the California Government, California Governor Newsom’s office has released theme park reopening guidelines.

Most notably, the guidelines restrict large theme parks like Disneyland from reopening until Orange County reaches Tier 4, which could take months. Now, the Anaheim Mayor (who has spoken out before) has responded to the guidelines.
The Disneyland Resort theme parks remain the only Disney parks internationally that have not announced a reopening due to government restrictions.

California’s Governor Newsom said discussions regarding theme park reopening guidelines were “forthcoming” some time ago. Disneyland and other California theme parks requested, however, that the state not finalize the guidelines without their input. Early details about the guidelines were revealed a few weeks ago, but their official release was delayed following pushback. Today, the official theme park reopening guidelines were finally released.
Disneyland Resort has remained closed for seven months and despite pleas from Disney executives and local government, there is still no sign from the state government of a reopening.

As executives and politicians alike have noted, the reopening of Disneyland Resort is about more than guests getting to ride attractions in a theme park. It also means thousands of jobs and a major boost to the local economy. Now, a group of Disney fans are getting ready to rally at the Disneyland gate in a call for the reopening.
Disneyland Resort has been closed for several months now, and without finalized theme park reopening guidelines from the state of California, no reopening date for the parks has been set yet.

In fact, just earlier today we shared that Disneyland was canceling all hotel reservations through the end of October.
Legislators, a Disneyland representative, and more have called on California to reopen theme parks.

Although we’ve gotten initial details about the reopening guidelines, the release of the finalized guidelines was delayed following pushback.
From installing health and safety signs to entering into “return to work” agreements with various unions, Disneyland Resort appears to be actively preparing for when it can reopen.

But, official theme park reopening guidelines have not been issued by California officials yet.
We’ve seen various updates regarding Disneyland Resort recently, but no official release of theme park reopening guidelines from California.

Despite the lack of formal guidance from the state, Disney appears to be preparing for an eventual reopening with the installation of more health and safety signs, and, now, agreements with certain unions.
Although we’ve gotten some initial details on the reopening guidelines reportedly proposed for theme park reopenings in California, the official guidelines have not yet been released by Governor Newsom.

Many urged Newsom not to finalize the guidelines without input from the theme parks themselves. Now, it appears Newsom is taking some existing regulations in theme parks outside of California into consideration while working on finalized versions of the guidelines.
Although Disneyland hasn’t set an official opening date, California Governor Gavin Newsom has stated that there’s “no hurry” to decide the best time to reopen theme parks moving forward.

Despite the uncertainty, Disneyland has still been moving forward with precautions like health and safety signs, limited capacity measures, and more ahead of the parks’ reopening dates. Yet, the uncertainty of when the parks and resorts will be welcoming guests back has caused Disney to make difficult decisions regarding the layoffs of 28,000 Cast Members during this time.
