There’s so much to do at Disney World other than the parks!
You can visit Disney Springs, go golfing, or book a lunch reservation at one of the resorts. Or, you can take a short walk to your resort pool and spend the afternoon there! After all, the pools have their own unique features and special theming. In fact, some of them even have SECRETS. If you don’t stay on property at Disney, or if you just don’t spend a lot of time at the pools, you may not know these fun facts!
Is there anything better than eating poolside?
Honestly, we’d answer no…not much is better than a poolside lunch! And one of the big perks of staying at a Disney Deluxe Villa Resort, like Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort, is the chance to sit back and relax and enjoy a few slower meals during the hustle and bustle of your Disney vacay. With several pools and dining options at many of them, it’s easy to have your poolside cocktail and eat lunch too.
That is precisely what we did at Saratoga Springs one day — specifically at the Paddock Grill. Would this leisurely lunch stack up to our laid-back mealtime fantasy? Keep reading to find out!
ALOHA from the Polynesian Village Resort!
You may know the Polynesian is a paradise when it comes to delectable tropical treats. From the newest Dole Whip Floats to ‘Ohana Noodles without a reservation, there is no shortage of deliciousness at this iconic resort.
But today, we’re slowing things down and getting a bite pool-side — hāele pū (let’s go in Hawaiian!) to the Oasis Bar and Grill!
This year is going to be BIG for the Disney Parks. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
is opening at Walt Disney World on August 29 and at Disneyland on May 31. Plus the all-new Skyliner transportation system will begin operating at Walt Disney World in the summer or fall! But that’s not all…
Guests to the Disney Parks on both coasts will get to enjoy lots of new and exciting restaurants! Read on to learn more about what’s opening and where — PLUS when you can expect to be able to visit each spot!
Just a few weeks ago, we shared that Tangaroa Terrace at the Disneyland Hotel would be closing for refurbishment.
And now, Disney is revealing what’s to come as a result of the work! Look for the Terrace to reopen in early 2019 as the Tangaroa Terrace Bar & Grill!
A new outdoor bar and an updated patio will provide spots for guests to enjoy island cocktails and Asian-inspired cuisine. Inside there will be new details including light fixtures made of colorful fishing floats and netting, a tropical mural, and bamboo accents. But, don’t worry, the Tiki-inspired design will still be present in the renovated space.
And a new bar and patio aren’t all the changes! Guests will be able to enjoy Dole Whip throughout the day and coffee drinks in the morning from a dedicated service window. This will be great in the morning for the energy to tackle the parks, and of course to enjoy a Dole Whip while we’re at the pool! [Read more…]
Long ago I did several posts in my “Pool Bar Series,” and it’s time to add another to the mix!
On a recent visit to Disney’s newest resort, Art of Animation, I took some time to hit the pool bar for a drink one evening. In fact, I hit the Drop Off just in time to watch the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics!!
The Drop Off Pool Bar is named after the ominous danger zone in Disney’s Finding Nemo film — the drop off to the ocean floor! While I’m sure this pool bar can be dangerous for some, my visit revealed a [Read more…]
Welcome to Disney’s Boardwalk Inn! We’re here at one of my favorite spots, Leaping Horse Libations, at what I fondly refer to as the “clown pool.” 🙂
Disney’s Boardwalk Inn is themed after the vintage northeastern boardwalk resorts popular in the early 1900s. “The Clown Pool” is its carnival pool, with Leaping Horse Libations serving as the centerpiece carousel. You can clearly see in the structure that it’s made to represent a carousel, and the “leaping horses” in the name are the carousel horses, of course!
While Leaping Horse Libations doesn’t have an extensive grill or food menu like you’d find over at the Yacht and Beach Clubs’ Hurricane Hanna’s, it does have a yummy drink menu, and you can purchase snacks.
And don’t forget that you’re not far from some delicious dining options on the Boardwalk. Straight from the pool, you can always head over to Kouzzina, Flying Fish, ESPN Club, the Boardwalk Bakery, or just over to the hot dog cart (a chili dog always sounds good to me after a long afternoon in the pool…how about you?).
