Are you a Disney World fan who loves sports?
You’re sure to know all about ESPN Wide World of Sports, which hosts some pretty major sporting events throughout the year, like Baseball Spring Training, Cheer and Dance Team Championships, among others. This year, ESPN Wide World of Sports just announced a huge weekend for college basketball fans, though.
Who’s ready to RUN? There are some exciting runDisney events coming soon, like the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend (happening now) and the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend! But all that athletic activity can really work up your appetite, so you might need a snack after the race!
Whether you’re planning on running or cheering for a family member, Disney’s got you covered with some NEW snacks arriving just in time for the upcoming marathon. Some of them look DELICIOUS, but there’s one snack that’s leaving us with a few questions… .Â
Something exciting is coming to Disney World!
All kinds of events are kicking off in and around Disney World, from the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival this summer to a virtual runDisney event. But over at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, a famous competition will take place.
Looks like the NBA’s residence in Disney World wasn’t a one-time thing.
You probably remember when much of the NBA moved into Disney World last summer to complete the season from the NBA bubble. Last month, it was reported that the NBA G League was expected to come to Disney World for another bubble. Now, the plan is CONFIRMED!
The bubble is set to come back, you guys!
This summer, the NBA came to Disney World to finish the 2019-2020 season. The players lived in Disney World Resort hotels and had their own “bubble” with loads of amenities, including a barber shop. They played their games at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex, and once the season was complete, the bubble came down and Disney resorts reopened. Now, it looks like the bubble will soon be back for another round, because the NBA G League is expected to come to Disney World.
Disney World has had a long history of supporting active military members and veterans.
Each year, the resort offers special military discounts on hotels and tickets and Veterans Day is a pretty significant event in the World. Now, Disney will host a major military event on property!
Cast members are a big part of the reason why Disney World feels so magical.
It’s been an especially difficult year for cast members, following thousands of layoffs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a sign of appreciation, Disney is opening a temporary shop with special offerings for employees.
Earlier this year, Disney World hosted the NBA as they finished the remainder of their season at the ESPN Wide World of Sports.
Although the NBA season has ended, we had heard that more basketball — this time in the form of several college basketball events — could be headed to Disney World soon. But, it seems those plans have now changed.
From a blimp flying over Disney World to a Barbershop within the blue walls of the “bubble,” we’ve been watching all of the news coming out of the NBA “bubble” since some of our favorite basketball teams resumed the 2019-2020 NBA season in Disney World at the ESPN Wide World of Sports.
Although the NBA conference finals will be wrapping up soon, it seems MORE basketball may be on its way to Disney World.
