Hi there, DFB friends! We’re back with more of what’s new at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
There’s some food and construction news as well as Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance news, so let’s get into it!
Today marks the first day that guests did not need to obtain a boarding pass to ride Rise of the Resistance at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
And as a result, we saw some crowds and some pretty hefty wait times for the attraction that is currently only using a standby-only line. But there will soon be a few ways to beat the line!
It’s always been a little bit tricky to get onto the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance ride in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The ride usually uses a virtual queue, which fills up just minutes after it opens each day at 7AM and 1PM. But today was the first day that it switched to a standby queue instead, with guests lining up in person rather than joining an online queue. So what do the crowds look like for this super popular ride?
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has some of the coolest merchandise in all of Disney World!
You can build your own droid, buy a shoulder porg, or even special soda bottles (when they’re available)! But, of course, the most popular souvenirs are the lightsabers, of course. You can make your own lightsaber during the experience at Savi’s Workshop, but if you don’t want to do that, you can also buy lightsabers over at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities! And now, 3 very popular lightsabers have made their return to the shop!
It’s Hispanic Latinx Heritage Month in Disney World!
Disney’s celebration is called “Together We Are Magia” and runs from September 15th through October 15th. There are a ton of ways to celebrate around the resort, like eating a meal by an award-winning chef currently featured at the Mexico Pavilion in EPCOT or trying special food items in Disney Springs! And today, we found a new snack for Hispanic Latinx Heritage Month in Disney World!
Disney’s Fastpass+ service is no longer in place, but there’s a NEW Fastpass+ replacement coming soon to Disney World called Disney Genie+. If you miss strolling through the Fastpass line to board your favorite attraction, you might be interested in paying for Disney Genie+, which will give guests access to over 40 attractions in Disney World.
As we wait for Disney Genie to take over, we’ve been keeping our eyes out for new Lightning Lane signage around the parks. We put together a handy little list of ALL the Disney attractions that will use Lightning Lanes (AKA the old Fastpass lane).
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opened up quite some time ago at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but it remains an incredibly popular ride.
Previously, if you wanted to ride Rise of the Resistance, you needed to sign up for a boarding group (a.k.a. join a virtual queue). Getting a boarding group was a task that could be incredibly difficult and which that required VERY speedy fingers. But, recently, Disney changed things and guests can now ride Rise of the Resistance WITHOUT a boarding group. This is a huge change and it could cause some pretty big impacts on your Disney World trip.
Disney Genie is confusing. There, we said it! But that’s why we’re here! We’re unraveling the mysteries of Disney Genie for you and answering every question you have!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is home to some of Disney World’s biggest rides, like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Tower of Terror.

Disney World’s 50th anniversary will be here in just two weeks!!
We’ve seen the parks getting ready for the big celebration by adding special new decorations like banners, signs, and a stage. Cinderella Castle also got a makeover and is ready for her birthday! 50 golden character statues are being added around the parks, too. We’ve seen statues pop up at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Animal Kingdom, and now, Hollywood Studios is joining in on the fun, and we think they’re the perfect place for park photos!
