It’s never a dull week in Disney World!
Goodness, what DIDN’T happen this week? Between the Disney World Annual Passholder announcement and the appearance of new decor, it’s been a week. We’re here to go over the six most unexpected things that happened this week, so be prepared for some big news.
Breakfast may be the most important meal of the day, but when your day includes racing to rope drop or running for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, it sometimes has to be the FASTEST meal of the day, too. We’ve tried a lot of Walt Disney World breakfasts, and we’ve found the best FAST breakfasts that will fuel your fun-filled morning.
Even if you’re not a big breakfast eater, it can help get your morning started to grab at least a little something when you set out for a Disney World day. It’s good to know that options abound for those of us who want to grab something delicious and FAST. So, let’s get into it!
When you go to Disney World nearly every day, like we do, you immediately notice when something is different or off.

Chip ‘n’ Dale have gone missing?
Sometimes it’s just stopping to wonder why someone would abandon a box of Dole Whips. Other times, we just have to stop and admire Disney ducks. And then there are times when we notice that something is missing.
Is it just us, or was August the longest month of the summer? SO MUCH happened!
We’ve been up to our ears in Disney news, including LOADS of details about the Star Wars hotel, an update on Disney Genie (and the retirement of the FastPass program), and hotel reopenings. And there have been a lot of menu changes at Disney World restaurants, too!
Hello, DFB friends! It’s time to go over what’s new at Magic Kingdom!
As Disney World’s 50th Anniversary approaches, we’re seeing more and more updates in the park! We stopped by the park recently to see what other new things we could spot. Let’s go over everything new in Magic Kingdom.
Almost everything at Disney World is getting spruced up for the 50th Anniversary celebration, which (can you believe it?) begins in a little less than ONE MONTH!

We’re so close to the start of the 50th Anniversary Celebration!
Cinderella Castle got a HUGE makeover — complete with a new paint job, new decor, and a huge “50” sign right on the front. We’ve also seen other buildings throughout Magic Kingdom getting spiffed up — even the Prince Charming Regal Carrousel got some new golden touches! Now, something else in this park has gotten a golden upgrade.
Disney recently announced a new system to take the place of FastPass+ in Disney World.
Disney Genie+ will take over as the new way to skip many of the standby lines for certain attractions. It’s part of the new Disney Genie program coming to My Disney Experience that will help plan your days in the parks! While Genie (the planning service) is free, Genie+ (the paid FastPass replacement service) is not — Genie+ will cost $15 per day, per ticket. The Genie+ system will let you enter through the new Lightning Lanes (the new name for the old FastPass+ lanes) at select attractions. While we don’t know exactly when the system will go into effect, some new additions in Magic Kingdom are making us think it might be soon!
Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary is less than a month away!!
The celebrations kick off on October 1st, when we’ll see things like a new fireworks show, the opening of a much anticipated new ride, and new golden character statues around the parks! Disney has been getting ready for the celebration for a while now, gradually adding decorations like new 50th anniversary banners and a stage in front of the recently made-over Cinderella Castle. And today, we noticed another new addition for the celebration!
August marks that transition point in the year where everyone heads back to school, summer is over, and we get back into a routine. In Walt Disney World, August was a busy month! We learned a TON of new information (some good, some bad), and got one step closer to the big 50th Anniversary Celebration.
While we prepare for what’s to come, let’s look back at some of the biggest things we found out about Walt Disney World in August.
