In Tomorrowland, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will be closing soon for a big update. In Frontierland, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is undergoing a MASSIVE upgrade. A Villains land is being built BEHIND Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Meanwhile, Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Square Riverboat are set to close forever as of tomorrow, July 7th, — and we’re here on the last day before this part of Magic Kingdom changes forever.

Don’t Forget! 3 Magic Kingdom Attractions Will Permanently CLOSE Soon

BIG things are happening in Magic Kingdom in Disney World.

Astro Orbiter just got a bit of a facelift in Tomorrowland. In Frontierland, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is undergoing a massive refurbishment. A Villains Land will soon be constructed behind that ride. We also can’t forget that a Cars expansion, Piston Peak, is coming to Frontierland, and soon, that means that some Magic Kingdom attractions will be closing forever.

The BAD News About Magic Kingdom’s Radiator Springs Racers Ride in Disney World

We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there’s already an issue with the new Cars ride at Magic Kingdom.

We’re saying goodbye to the Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and Liberty Belle Riverboat as they permanently give way to the new Piston Peak Cars expansion in Frontierland. While we’re overcome with conflicting emotions, we can’t help but be excited about the new Cars-themed offerings, given the success of Cars Land at Disney California Adventure. Still, there’s one cause for concern regarding the new ride coming to Magic Kingdom’s Cars expansion, thanks to an unfortunate tidbit of Disney history.

ALERT: The Disney World Railroad Is CHANGING on July 7th

Magic Kingdom is going through a lot of changes over the next few years — so much so that it’s sometimes hard to keep track of them all.

Astro Orbiter has been put back together following a months-long refurbishment, we have a closing date for Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat to turn into the new Piston Peak land, and we know that Villains Land construction is underway behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (which is also under construction right now), but believe it or not, that’s not all! There’s also a change coming to the Walt Disney World Railroad you won’t want to forget.

Big changes are coming to Magic Kingdom! Not one, but TWO new lands will make their way to this iconic theme park. While we still have a bit before these lands are open for guests, we are already getting excited about them.

While Piston Peak National Park will be replacing the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island, Villains Land will be built beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. We just recently got LOADS of new details about the big Cars expansion coming to Frontierland in Magic Kingdom, and honestly, we’re STILL wrapping our heads around everything (when Disney does an information dump, they literally DROWN you in details).

Disney Shared 4 SNEAK PEEKS at NEW Attractions Coming Soon

Hold up — Disney just dropped some MAJOR sneak peeks, and we are not okay.

Coming to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, a new area themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Cars” will leave Radiator Springs and head to the wilderness with two new attractions including an off-road race.

We’re talking brand new lands, upgraded rides, and a nighttime parade that has our inner 10-year-old screaming.
