The Walt Disney Company is in the midst of some major layoffs right now. During a recent earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that thousands of jobs would be cut as the company works to cut costs.

The layoffs began in late March 2023, and several executives lost their jobs as a result. Those job cuts have meant that an entire division of the company was eliminated, and a couple of major projects have been scrapped. Disney has stated that these job cuts are part of a huge effort to cut $5.5 billion in spending, but one Marvel executive claims that there’s a different reason why Disney fired him. [Read more…]
HUGE NEWS has been announced for the Disney World Annual Pass!
Annual Pass
Following the closure of the Disney World parks in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Annual Pass sales were paused. Sales resumed in September of 2021 with a revamped version of the program with new pass options. Sales were not active for long, because by November 2021, they had been paused again for all but one version of the Annual Pass. Now, Annual Pass sales will resume SOON
Disney World has announced that Annual Passes will resume sales SOON, on April 20th, 2023. But some people will be able to grab a pass EARLY.

TRON Lightcycle / Run has officially opened in Magic Kingdom, and now a new experience related to that coaster is open as well!

When you board the lightcycles at the TRON coaster, you can enter the grid to race against some pretty menacing programs. But if you want to go a step further, you can create your own custom “Program” action figure at the nearby Tomorrowland Launch Depot gift shop. UPDATE: When we visited on the morning of April 5th, the TRON Identity Program was up and working, and access to Tomorrowland Launch Depot was limited to guests with reservations for the experience. A Cast Member we spoke to indicated that Disney might allow people without TRON Identity Program reservations to enter the store later this afternoon or evening but we were advised to come back and check on the situation.
A thrilling roller coaster is NOW OPEN in Magic Kingdom — TRON Lightcycle / Run. With the coaster, a new experience was supposed to open up nearby, but that project seems to have run into a few problems.

Disney announced that the TRON Identity Program would open inside the Tomorrowland Launch Depot (previously called the Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.) at the same time as the TRON ride, on April 4th. It’s a BIG day in Magic Kingdom today — TRON Lightcycle / Run has officially opened!

The highly anticipated coaster held some Annual Passholder and DVC Member previews, and then it had a soft opening for a couple of weeks, but now it’s officially open and ready to welcome guests. With the new ride opening in Magic Kingdom, however, it looks like a major price increase has hit Genie+ — the paid way you can skip the lines at some of the most popular Disney rides.

March 31st was the final day of Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration. With the celebration ending, we’ve seen lots of themed items swapped out over the past few days, including snacks, merchandise, and decorations. But one of the biggest changes is the switch-up of the nighttime shows at both EPCOT and Magic Kingdom.

The EPCOT Forever fireworks show has returned to this park hot on the heels of the 18-month long run of Harmonious, which celebrated Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration.
