Well, we just got a pretty big surprise. The panel started with a first (albeit rough) look at the new Simpsons movie, which will be landing in theaters in September, 2027!

We’re at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney’s largest event of the year, and while the event officially kicks off tomorrow, we’re getting a sneak peek at some of the hottest pavilions and exhibits tonight, a day early. We know Disney is getting ready to release a TON of news, including what we just found out — there’s a NEW Pixar film in the works and Disney is announcing it TOMORROW!
There has been a TON of Marvel talk as of late! Spider-Man: Brand New Day just released in theatres, having the second biggest opening weekend of ALL TIME, and fans are getting ready for Avengers: Doomsday to release at the end of the year. On top of that, Marvel announced two NEW projects that are on the horizon at San Diego Comic Con.

However, there’s one other project that has been talked about a lot amongst fans as of late, and it’s a project that we won’t be seeing. Seven years ago, in July of 2019, Marvel announced that a Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali would be coming. That movie has been completely scrapped, and fans AND Mahershala Ali have responded!

It was seven years ago, in July of 2019, when Marvel announced that a Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali would be coming. Marvel fans lost hope in the project with each passing year, and now it looks like the movie has been completely scrapped.
Moana is one of the most popular Disney movies of the past decade. The franchise has 1.5 billion hours streamed on Disney+, 22 million toys sold, and 26 billion music streams. The original film brought in a whopping $684 million at the worldwide box office, and its sequel crossed the $1 billion mark globally.

But despite the Wayfinder’s popularity, the new live-action Moana has only earned $43 million at the U.S. box office in its first weekend. For reference, the animated Moana earned $56 million in its opening weekend back in 2016, not adjusted for inflation. Since Moana is one of the most popular Disney characters of the past decade, why did the live-action remake flop?

Toy Story 5 just released to theatres on June 19th, the live-action Moana drops on July 10th, and then Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases on July 31st. We have a lot of theatre visits on the horizon, but what about chilling at home and watching new movies on our couch? Disney announced the official date that one of its new movies, which came out earlier this year, will be making its way to Disney+!
The newest installment in the Toy Story franchise, Toy Story 5, released in theaters on June 19th, and in the first weekend, the film has already begun breaking box office records!

It’s been a bit of a rough run for some Disney films in the box office recently, even for recent releases like The Mandalorian and Grogu, so some people were concerned at how this film was going to do. However, it’s now the franchise’s BEST opening weekend film!
Lin-Manuel Miranda is back for another Disney movie!

Disney just posted a YouTube video teasing that there will be a brand-new song in the live-action Moana, and it’s written by none other than Lin-Manuel Miranda. The movie is less than a month away from releasing in theatres, and this news is getting us more excited.
