When it came to January, Hollywood Studios had an eventful month! With some major shakeups on the way and a steady stream of new things to discover, there’s never a dull moment at this park.
Today, a long-awaited reopening happened at the park!
Although EPCOT is getting a lot of attention during the Festival of the Arts, Hollywood Studios has a lot going on, too! From major new perks coming to the park to a lying milkshake, there’s been a lot to talk about over at Hollywood Studios lately.
Today, we’re rounding some of the newest things you can find at Hollywood Studios! Let’s dive in!
At DFB, we LOVE Disney World’s plastic cheese. You know, that golden, plastic-looking cheese that comes with Mickey pretzels and corn dog nuggets. It’s the kind of cheese that isn’t necessarily the world’s finest cheese, but it does exactly what it needs to do. What can we say — it’s a classic! And while you won’t find us disparaging plastic cheese very often, we do feel obligated to inform you that there is a HUGE difference between plastic cheese and beer cheese.
Ok, so what’s with all the cheese talk? Well, the latest victim of Disney’s supply issues seems to be cheese. Let’s investigate what’s going on!
Over at Disney World, Extended Evening Hours has given Deluxe Resort and Deluxe Villa guests the chance to stay in parks like Magic Kingdom and EPCOT for an extra two hours past closing.
Alongside its sister program, Early Theme Park Entry, this has brought us a lot more time in the parks! Although this service is pretty convenient, it’s been generally limited to only two parks since its launch last year. But soon that is going to change!
Disney World is celebrating its 50th Anniversary for a FULL 18-months and we’ve been bringing you along for the PAR-TAY featuring all-new attractions, fireworks shows, decorations, and SO much more since it began!
Of course, what’s an anniversary celebration without some tasty eats and drinks, right? Well, Disney World introduced OVER 150 new snacks to keep our bellies full as we wave at Mickey and shop every new piece of merchandise there is (and there’s A LOT). We’ve already brought you our COMPLETE ranking of the 50th-anniversary snacks in Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but if you find yourself craving something that isn’t covered in EARidescent sprinkles, we’re bringing you 50 OTHER things to try in Disney World for the 50th Anniversary!
Visiting Disney World soon? Want to meet some of your favorite characters?
Meet-and-greets aren’t quite back to “normal” yet in the Most Magical Place on Earth but you can still say “hello” and snap a selfie with some princesses, the main mouse, and more. Meeting these characters, however, will require you to wait in a standby line. Want to skip the wait and get quicker and easier access to your favorite Disney pals? We’ve got a little tip!
Some may consider January to be a slower season in Disney World, but if this week’s crowds are any indication, things are as active as ever around the parks and resorts!
How else do we know Disney World is full of new offerings? We have a full lineup of updates to share from Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Let’s dive in and see what’s new since our last visit.

Last fall, Disney Genie and Genie+ launched in Disney World, providing guests with more ways to plan their days in the parks. While Disney Genie is a complimentary service located within My Disney Experience, Genie+ is the new paid version of what used to be FastPass+, costing $15 per guest, per day.
When it first launched, purchasing Genie+ included the ability to book a return time to most rides and attractions. But starting this week, additional guest experiences will be available for booking.
