We are seeing Disney World undergo some major construction over the next few years, including updated rides and new lands.

Cinderella’s Castle
In 2025, there will be several rides that are seeing a refurbishment this year at Magic Kingdom. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is currently receiving an overhaul and is scheduled to reopen in 2026. Astro Orbiter also closed earlier this year and is set to reopen this summer. Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin has recently been added to that list as well so here is what we know about this ride update.
Disney World is undergoing some pretty intense refurbishments and adding some massive construction projects over the next few years.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be closed for refurbishment through at least the beginning of 2026, Dinoland U.S.A. has begun its transition into Pueblo Esperanza, It’s Tough to Be A Bug just closed to make way for Zootopia: Better Zoogether, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Disney more recently announced another massive closure that will take at least a year.
Disney has finally announced that an entirely new land will be arriving in the unused land behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom, and we can’t wait.
However, some Disney fans are feeling a little apprehensive about this new addition because it’s questionable if a Villains Land truly fits in Magic Kingdom, the park that’s arguably most friendly for kids and families. However, some kids love Disney Villains, but how much will this land really be friendly towards younger kids? Here’s what we know so far.
Magic Kingdom’s major expansion plans just passed another hurdle.

Cinderella Castle
The permit for the park expansion has just been approved by the South Florida Water Management District signaling the first major move towards the park’s updates. The permit was first filed in August 2024 with a few additions and expansions added throughout 2024.
Disney World is getting some updates!

Magic Kingdom
There are some major updates around Disney World from the new Monster’s Inc. Land that’s in the works, the new Zootopia show coming soon, and DinoLand’s closure, there is so much going on! In Magic Kingdom, we found even more updates but these were a bit unexpected.
Disney World has a lot of changes coming in 2025, and sometimes it’s hard to keep track of them all.
Thankfully, we’re here to keep track of them for you to hopefully help lower the confusion around this upcoming year. There are lots of construction projects going on in all four Disney World parks, but some of them mean that certain rides are shutting down for good. If you’re visiting the parks soon, be sure to take one last ride on these before they go away!
Every day we’re getting closer and closer to the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom and Disneyland!
We’re keeping a close eye on all the latest updates happening on both coasts because small changes are happening every day. And our most recent discovery? Plants are EVERYWHERE! It’s not just the mountain covered in greenery anymore, you need to see how many plants have been added ALL OVER the ride.
This summer is gearing up to be an exciting one in Disney World! Not only will CommuniCore Hall and Plaza finally be opening in EPCOT in June, but we’re also excited about the reimagining of the Country Bear Jamboree and, of course, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom!
Construction has been picking up speed at this ride lately, with Cast Members adding finishing touches here and there. It looks like one of those finishing touches has officially arrived at Tiana’s and we’re bringing you with us to check it out!
Summer is fast approaching, and that means hot weather, yes, but it also means some popular Magic Kingdom rides are coming back!
Both the reimagined Country Bear Jamboree and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (formerly Splash Mountain; same ride system, different themes) are expected to open in Summer 2024, right around when Test Track will be closing for its reimagining. We’ve been watching Tiana’s Bayou Adventure closely, checking out all the details that are developing, and we just noticed a big one pop up!
