Palo on the Disney Cruise Line has a romantic atmosphere with some amazing food.
While we’re missing taking a cruise across the big, blue ocean, we’re excited to be able to make THIS treat straight from the cruise ships in the comfort of our homes!
Greetings from the Disney Fantasy! Today we are bringing you a review exclusive to this beautiful ship — the Palo “Be Our Chef” Cooking Class!
While Palo, the adults-only, signature Italian restaurant, is located on all four of the Disney Cruise Line ships, the “Be Our Chef Experience” is only available aboard the Disney Fantasy. This portside offering teaches guests the art of Northern Italian cooking from some of the ship’s chef team — and one celebrity chef!
Guests getting ready to sail on one of the four current Disney Cruise Line ships will want to be aware of price increases for dining experiences at the adult-exclusive restaurants.
Guests sailing on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy have access to both Remy and Palo, while guests sailing on the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder have access to Palo. No matter which ship you’re sailing on, the prices for these restaurants are the same across the Line. [Read more…]

Ahoy to Rachel Gardner! She brings us a delicious review of the exclusive table-service restaurant, Palo, aboard the Disney Fantasy.
Warm tones of reds, greens, and taupes; elegant wood paneling; large spacious dining rooms with sweeping ocean views; the smell of Italian food wafting from the plates around you as you make your way to your table: this is Palo.
Meaning pole in Italian, Palo is named after the pole to which the gondoliers tie up the gondola when docking.
Sweeping ocean views create a serene [Read more…]

Remember when we told you that the Disney Magic cruise ship was about to get a full makeover?? Well, today we have an awesome photo tour for you!!
The Disney Magic – The original cruise ship of the Disney Cruise Line – first set sail in 1998. Fifteen years later, she has just launched again after a lengthy stay in dry-dock where she spent her time being “re-imagined.”
Re-imagining is more than simply being refurbished or refreshed. Some spaces around the ship were entirely redesigned while others were enhanced. She sure is a beauty!
Since the re-imagined areas are primarily public spaces, this, of course, means that some of the dining areas and adult lounges were re-imagined or refreshed as well! Though some spaces, already timeless, remained unchanged or just refreshed.
Let’s have a look inside this amazing vessel and see what’s new!
The biggest update to the dining scene on the Disney Magic is the addition of Carioca’s.
What was previously Parrot Cay now pays homage to one of Donald Duck’s [Read more…]

If you’re anticipating a cruise on the brand new Disney Fantasy soon, you’re in luck when it comes to food! Some of the Disney Fantasy menus for the table-service restaurants have already been revealed!! These are always subject to change, so we’re excited to see what might be added as the boat continues to sail!
Here are some fun sneak peeks at the menus — along with some photos of our favorites! Bon Appetit!
Entrees on the Animator’s Palate Menu include dishes for landlubbers, seafood lovers, and vegetarians!
One popular dish is the Animator’s Trio of Veal. It’s a Grilled Tenderloin, pulled Shank, with Tortellacci Pasta. For seafood, the Grilled Pacific Black Cod, or White Shrimp Pennette Pasta, are great choices. Vegetarians can choose from Stir-fry Vegetables or Black Bean Chipotle Cakes.
Aboard the ship, go ahead and order one (or two ;-)) appetizers! The Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes are your must-order app. Trust me!
This menu looks identical to the one on the Disney Dream. Check out our review of Disney Dream’s Animator Palate.
There are plenty of options on the Cabanas Menu to curb your hunger at sea aboard the Fantasy.
While options rotate, you may find Jerk Chicken Salad, Caribbean-style Conch Chowder, Fettuccine with [Read more…]

The Disney Fantasy was christened in New York City this week, and eager passengers await their first voyage on the newest Disney Cruise Line ship!
We wanted to share a few of the specialty cocktails you’ll find on board — you know we’re all about prioritizing any on board credit you may have received! 😉
The Fantasy’s adults-only restaurants, Palo and Remy, will offer some delicious ways to complement your meal!
The uber-posh French restaurant, Remy, features a cocktail that is expertly handcrafted at your table. The signature cocktail “Collette” combines Taittinger Champagne and pear vodka, then is garnished with fresh blueberry, dried apricot, and mint leaf.
We loved this one! 🙂 The cool science-y part? When vodka is mixed with champagne, the champagne loses its bubbles! The sugar being released from the piece of candied apricot re-creates the effervescence! Taste? Incredible.
Remy also boasts two wine lists! A special list of nearly 200 wines features vintage French wines, and Remy’s Vault holds the exclusive list with rare wines from around the globe. The latter lists includes a 1947 Château Cheval Blanc, which was the wine requested by the food critic from “Ratatouille” and retails at $25,000 per bottle. You’ll also find a 1961 Château Latour, which was also featured in the film.
Bottles from the Vault are presented by a white-gloved sommelier in an elegant velvet box with the wine on a silver-plated plaque.
Check out our review of Remy aboard the [Read more…]

Disney Food for Families columnist Erin Foster takes us with her on her summer vacation, European travel — Disney style. This was a three-part trip which included two Adventures by Disney packages (Barcelona Escape and Mediterranean Magic), plus a Mediterranean cruise on the Disney Magic, all sandwiched together. Her trip of a lifetime included culture, relaxation, breathtaking scenery, and of course, plenty of food.
My recent Mediterranean Magic Adventures by Disney trip was slightly different than most. While the lunches and daytime excursions were completely run by Adventures by Disney (AbD), our lodging for the evening was not a hotel.
Instead we spent the night sailing and sleeping aboard the Disney Magic cruise ship. This meant that our dinners took place in the regular Magic restaurants. Most dinners were spent with our individual families rather than the group. However, one evening our guides, James and Dusty, treated the adults in the group to an amazing private meal at Palo, the ship’s most deluxe dining venue.
This happened to be my first meal at Palo so, while I had read several reviews of the restaurant here on Disney Food Blog, I didn’t fully know what to expect.
Based on the dress-code, I had anticipated an ultra-lush atmosphere like the Grand Floridian’s Victoria and Albert’s. However, while the room and mood were lovely, they were more in step with [Read more…]
Dining in Disneyland columnist Heather Sievers brings us on Board the Disney Magic’s Mediterranean Cruise for High Tea at Palo!
Although this was my third Disney Cruise, my husband and I had never had a chance to dine at The Disney Cruise Line’s upscale (and kid-free) Palo. We’d heard amazing things, but were always so happy with our dining room experiences that we never strayed from our nightly servers. I now ask myself, “What the heck were we thinking?!?”
On this last cruise, an 11-day Mediterranean Cruise, we had not one, not two, but three chances to visit Palo; and honestly, I wish we had made even more reservations than that. Each visit was for a different meal. We tried the brunch (amazing), we tried the dinner (amazing), and we also visited the High Tea. This was my first “fancy” official type high tea and I will tell you this: high tea at Palo would be hard to top.
High tea is offered on sea days only and reservations are a must. It takes place at 3:00pm and will set you back a mere [Read more…]
