Although Disney World is known as “The Most Magical Place on Earth,” things don’t always run smoothly in the parks, but that’s just how things go. For example, if bad weather is in the area, outdoor rides will close as a precaution.

Big changes are coming to Disney World, and some of them might sting a little.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

Disney has already been in the middle of a huge transformation across multiple parks, and now it looks like two more fan-favorite attractions will soon be added to the closure list. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith and DINOSAUR are both scheduled to close in 2026, though Disney hasn’t given us official closure dates yet. Fans Do NOT Want to Hear This, But the New Muppets Coaster in Hollywood Studios Is Actually a Good Thing

The Muppets takeover of the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster has proved controversial amongst some Disney fans, but the truth is it may be one of the best things to happen to the Muppets in years!

When Disney surprisingly announced that the Muppets would be bumping Aerosmith from the coaster last year, fan reaction was somewhat conflicted, with many pointing out that it was awkward for the kid-friendly Muppets to be tied to a thrill ride, and even questioning how they could thematically fit in the park’s Sunset Boulevard area. While there is arguably some merit to these complaints, we’d argue that the potential good greatly outweighs them.

In the fall of 2024, Disney shocked Muppets fans, who were already in mourning over the then-just-announced closure of Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo, that the characters would be added to the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster. At the time, Disney said that the Muppets would be “teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!” So, what songs should make up that music festival? A LOT is going on in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We just witnessed the arrival of two brand-new shows (The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure and Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After). We also just said goodbye to Muppets Courtyard as it was closed recently to make way for a new Monsters, INC. land.

Well, as you may know, the Muppets will be moving over to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster sometime in 2026, and we’ve just spotted a new permit that could hint at future work to get ready for the coaster’s closure and re-theming.

OPENING TIMELINE ANNOUNCED for the NEW Muppets Coaster in Disney World

So we’ve been a big ball of emotions this week because we had to say goodbye to Muppets Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which closed to make way for a new Monsters, Inc. land.

The last day of Muppet*Vision 3D

We wished farewell to Mama Melrose’s in May, and then we had to watch Muppet*Vision 3D one last time and see the last person served at PizzeRizzo. Now, the construction walls are up, and the Muppets are gone. The good news, though, is that they’re not gone forever; they’ll be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Now, we have an idea of when that might happen.
