We’re just a wee bit confused about Disney’s latest announcement regarding the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster’s Muppet transformation.

I’ve been covering Disney theme parks for over 7 years, and visiting them/tracking news about them for nearly 5x that long, and over that time I’ve seen the company make a lot of announcements. I’ve seen new attractions, refurbishments, ride closures, and even new theme parks announced, with opening timelines. However, I can’t think of another instance that’s quite as befuddling as just what’s happening with the new version of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.

Disney Teases NEW Addition Coming to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in 2026

It’s time to play the music; it’s time to light the lights — er, well, okay, it’s not entirely time yet, but we’re just too excited about the Muppets retheme of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

While no official closing date has been announced yet, Disney has confirmed that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will open in summer 2026. Not only that, but they’ve confirmed that there will be a brand-new Scooter animatronic — and they’ve teased that there could potentially be more.

I’d be lying if I said tears weren’t shed when MuppetVision was given its final show date. While not everything was quickly forgotten, it’s hard not to feel excited for the new Muppet roller coaster in Hollywood Studios.

Disney World will be facing a VERY transformative year in 2026, and while we’re looking forward to all the new lands coming, it does mean we’ll see a LOT of construction walls for the next 12+ months.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

While many of these construction projects won’t OPEN until 2027 and beyond, such as Villains Land, Piston Peak, and Monsters, Inc. Land, there ARE projects that will be completed next year, and we’re really looking forward to seeing what they bring to the park. If you’re already planning a trip for 2026, these are the dates you need to grab your tickets and/or park pass reservations for ASAP!

Although Disney World is known as “The Most Magical Place on Earth,” things don’t always run smoothly in the parks, but that’s just how things go. For example, if bad weather is in the area, outdoor rides will close as a precaution.

You also can’t account for things like crowds or ride closures. Now, we all know that one of the best ways to avoid long lines for popular rides in Disney World could be arriving at the parks for rope drop, but this morning, rope drop in Disney’s Hollywood Studios wasn’t going so smoothly.
