First Look AND Review: Thirsty River Bar and Trek Snacks in Disney’s Animal Kingdom

2016 is gearing up to be a positively HUGE year for Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

The headlining news revolves around the highly anticipated Rivers of Light spectacular, which — along with evening journeys at Kilimajaro Safaris also beginning sometime in the spring — will transform Animal Kingdom into a park with nighttime activities for the first time.

Naturally, this transition into a full day park will affect dining options, since expanded operating hours will result in a larger need for more dining opportunities. In fact, it’s already been announced that Animal Kingdom will also be getting its first Signature Restaurant in 2016, Tiffins.

But it’s not just huge shows and signature eateries coming to Animal Kingdom. Some additions are more subtle, but certainly still worth noting. For instance… SURPRISE!! As of this past Saturday, there is a brand new bar and snack stand you can now enjoy in Animal Kingdom’s Asia.

Review: New Seasonal Candy Cane Kah-lada at Anaheim Produce in Hollywood Studios

We’ve spotted yet another holiday seasonal item in Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

Now, we’ve long-hailed Min and Bill’s Dockside Diner as a great place to find themed drinks thanks to their rotating assortment of Seasonal Shakes (currently you’ll find a Blue Milk Shake, in honor of all the new Star Wars eats and activities that have recently come to the Studios). But that’s not the only place with a few seasonal sips up its sleeve…

Today’s selection is coming at you from Anaheim Produce. Did you know about the Seasonal Coladas you can find here??

You know we at the DFB love a good colada… So hold on to your Santa hats, folks, because it’s time to try the Candy Cane Kah-lada at Anaheim Produce!

You’ll find Anaheim Produce on Sunset Boulevard in the Sunset Ranch Market.

The stand itself is really pretty simple — basically a quick-service grab and go deal. But it’s part of the larger Sunset Ranch Market area (which also includes spots like Hollywood Scoops and the recently re-opened from refurbishment Rosie’s All-American Cafe and Catalina Eddie’s), offering plenty of outdoor, nicely shaded seating. Star Wars fans, rejoice! We are starting to see some major Star Wars additions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the new Season of the Force!

These additions weren’t expected to arrive until January 5 so it looks they got a head start — and just in time for the release of the new movie! New to Hollywood Studios is Launch Bay.

Dining in Disneyland: Holiday Funnel Cake at Disneyland’s Stage Door Cafe

Holiday Time at the Disneyland Resort is here! You know what that means???? It’s time to taste all of the things!

When this year’s list of specialty items came out, I was definitely most excited for the Holiday Funnel Cake from the Stage Door Cafe at Disneyland.  Located in Frontierland, the Stage Door Cafe is just around the corner from the Golden Horseshoe.  This counter service gem serves up some of Disneyland’s classic favorites.

The Stage Door Cafe is known for its small, but perfect menu!  In addition to their famous Hand Dipped Corn Dogs (yes, the same ones served at the Little Red Wagon on Main Street!),  they also offer Chicken Breast Nuggets, Fish & Chips, and House Made Funnel Cakes.

Review: Minnie’s Bake Shop Chocolate Chunk Cookies

You may have passed by boxes upon boxes of Minnie’s Bake Shop Chocolate Chunk Cookies in several merchandise spots around Disney World and Disneyland without even noticing.

Minnie's Bake Shop Label

Minnie’s Bake Shop Label

Found throughout popular merchandise and snack combo stops such as Magic Kingdom’s Big Top Souvenirs (home to Big Top Treats) and Epcot’s Mouse Gears in Disney World, to the Fantasia Shop in the Disneyland Hotel (where I purchased mine), these grab and go snacks aren’t exactly what you would call high profile on the Disney snacking scene. Disney Holiday Preview: Celebrating Christmas Throughout the World at Epcot

I love the riches of tradition that take place throughout Epcot during Holidays Around the World.

Christmas Comes to World Showcase

Christmas Comes to World Showcase

And one of my favorite holiday rituals is learning about how others celebrate this important time of the year.

We all know about Santa in the United States and other countries, Père Noël  in France, and Father Christmas in the UK. Today, I thought we could take a look at some of the other Christmas traditions celebrated in the lands of World Showcase. And of course, we’ll be snacking along the way as well. :-)
