Star Wars Weekends: Darth Vader Popcorn Bucket

It’s finally here! Star Wars Weekends have officially begun!

Star Wars Weekends!

Star Wars Weekends!

And while they brought back an assortment of themed cupcakes and drinks (you’ll see all the reviews on DFB next week!), I had to show you probably the best souvenir so far

Darth Vader Popcorn Bucket

Yep! Vader’s helmet has officially made its way to being a popcorn vessel!

I know you guys are with me in being big fans of the fun new popcorn buckets Disney has been introducing for holidays and special events, and I figured this one would quickly be a MUST-HAVE on many of your “bucket lists.” (Ha ha ha!!)

Spotted! R2-D2 and Darth Vader Lunch Bags… with Special Effects!

‘Tis the season… and I’m not talking about Christmas! Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios are upon us (starting TOMORROW!!), and some extra fun Star Wars themed merchandise is arriving along with them. And when that merchandise is food-related?! Well, that’s all the better!

Check out these cool R2-D2 and Darth Vader lunch bags I saw at Tatooine Traders (the store next to the Star Tours attraction in Hollywood Studios) and Writer’s Stop! I don’t remember these from last year, so while I’m not sure if they’re new, they are new to me…

Now, when I say “cool,” I do mean that I think they are neat, but these padded lunch totes are also thermal for keeping your food cold. Score.

But the best thing about them is that they have special effects!

I’m partial to the R2-D2 bag.

Part of that is because I love him, but also the effects are pretty great. When you press the indicated button on top of the bag, you suddenly hear R2’s signature beeps and boops… but, get this: his lights also flash!

Guest Review: Darth Vader Cupcake at Star Wars Weekends in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Welcome Guest Author Becca C. with an out-of-this-world review of the Darth Vader Cupcake at Disney’s Hollywood Studios — an exclusive during Star Wars Weekends!!

Calling all chocolate and peanut butter lovers! There’s a cupcake being sold (yay, it’s back!) during Star Wars Weekends that is defiantly tempting enough to bring this fan to the dark side.

Darth Vader Cupcake!

This treat starts with a moist chocolaty cupcake. Then as you can see from my half finished version here they pile on the peanut butter frosting. This was an update to the cupcake last year from it’s previous version, and it’s carried on through this year’s event! This frosting is simply [Read more…]

Favorite Finds: Star Wars Spuds

Sometimes we come across some seriously awesome food-related merch and we just have to share it with you. This time? STAR WARS SPUDS! And by spuds, we mean Mr. Potato Head. Yes.

As I mentioned earlier in the Star Wars snacks post, my family is headed to Walt Disney World soon. One of the main reasons that we are gearing up for a June trip is to attend our second Star Wars Weekends event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Star Wars Weekends

The first time we attended my husband RAN for a picture with a Stormtrooper, leaving his then 8-year old son in his lightspeed-wake. It’s the kind of event that encourages grown adults to recall their youthful summer days having backyard battles with makeshift lightsabers. Are you with me?!

One of my favorite places to browse while my son is on his 9th ride (seriously, I am SO not kidding!) on Star Tours is Tatooine Traders. After two galactic missions IN A ROW, I’m ready for some shopping!

Star Wars-Inspired Mr. Potato Head Toys

And, luckily, Disney Theme Parks sell exclusive Star Wars Mr. Potato Head figures. This 5-part Limited Edition set makes a great gift for your Star Wars fans! ;-)

I wonder if this protocol droid, C-3PotatO, would help my young padawan with his manners!

Disney World Star Wars Weekends Snacks!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is once again hosting Star Wars Weekends from May 18 – June 10, 2012, for fans celebrating the George Lucas films.

If you have young padawans that can’t wait to meet Chewbacca (“let the wookie win”) or a budding Jedi that dreams of a lightsaber battle with Darth Vader, this event is for you!

Adults that grew up with the Star Wars empire are equally excited about this special event with the opportunity to purchase unique merchandise and meet celebrities. I’m looking forward to attending my second Star Wars Weekend this year, and not only will I be posing for a picture with an Ewok, I’m going to snag one of these galatically-good snacks as well!

According to the DisneyParks Blog, there are some fun treats awaiting hungry Star Wars fans! My 12-year old son just told me that he likes “all of them,” but he’s headed for the Darth cupcake first.

Darth Vader Cupcake

A special chocolate cupcake featuring Darth Vader will be available for $4.99 at Darth’s Mall, ABC Commissary, Backlot Express, Studio Catering Co., Pizza Planet, and Starring Rolls Cafe.

This is pretty much the regular chocolate, peanut butter cupcake with a Darth head stuck in it, but we’re not complaining! Also, it’s definitely more ornate than last year’s version! “It is useless to resist” the power of the Darth cupcake!

Star Wars Weekends Darth Vader Cupcake and Other Specialty Foods

Darth Vader and R2D2 are where it’s at when it comes to food at this year’s Star Wars Weekends in Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

This chocolate peanut butter cupcake has been upgraded with a white chocolate Darth and a couple of dueling chocolate light sabers on top! We found this one at Starring Rolls Cafe.

The taste is still out of this world, and the gooey, fudgey peanut butter chocolate center is well worth the cost of the cupcake!
